Hi to all .. My daughter will be taking her pre reqs at TCC NE campus for nursing starting this fall ! ( registration starts Sunday ) Can anyone offer some advice on where to start ....which Science first ... anything that will help ...maybe a good prof or two for any of the Sciences or Math ( or any other class for that matter ) She did take med terms in high school and got an 98 ! Also did duel English so that is out of the way too ! :yeah:Thank you for any and all help !:loveya: ( Feel free to Pm me if you need to thanks again ! )
That is VERY true! I always had to register at 6am on the dot, the day of registration. Do you know who teaches it? I can't for the life of me remember that professors name! :)
Someone taught me a trick to getting into classes that usually fill up the fastest. There's a date a couple of weeks after registration where you have to have paid your tuition or have made arrangements...I called it the "drop dead date". It is before classes start though. What happens is, if someone hasn't paid by that date, they get booted out of the schedule, thus leaving an opening. It happens frequently enough that I quit bothering to get in on registration and waited for that day. Folks will sign up for tons of classes early, apparently just to reserve a spot.
The drop dead date is usually on a Friday (I think) and since TCC closes the internet for the weekend (the STUPIDEST policy I have ever seen! LOL!), you just log in the following Monday and fill in one of the empty seats that opened up.
For one, not that is any of your business she is right beside me when we research her classes, instructors and colleges .She has asked for my help and advice which makes me feel good . You see I can be a parent and a friend.... Thank goodness she is sleeping now so that she can not read this ( as of now ) to see just how ugly and petty some nurses can be . She was a straight A high school student that already has 15 colleges hours by her choice not mine . Do not for a second think you know my child .....YOU DONT nor do you know me or how I parent ....Which again is none of your business. She worked the last year of high school at the hospital making 15.00 an hour along with all the activies of a NORMAL teenager. And trust me if she read this I have no doubt she could put you in your place and make you question you own parenting abilities. She will make a wonderful nurse she is a great women and can for sure handle her own problems but hey life is better with someone by your side saying I love you. As for as grades she will do great and can handle any issue with any prof ,boss or busybody on this siteHave a good day
my opinion of helicopter parents is not colored by my experience as a nurse. rather, it is born of a distain for those children who can't or won't cut their apron strings. i have two children of my own, i watch the other parents and see how little self-sufficency skills they are instilling in their children. when my children are off to college, they are on their own to succeed. i see the problem in the parents not the kids. they are so focused on having their children succeed that they never teach them to fail or how to recover from it. so, if your daughter is so much a part of your team, why is she not posting?
i see the problem the problem in your reply, you think you are her friend. you are not, you are her mother. you can't be both.
based of what you wrote, you match the definition bang on...

i understand you are proud of her. perhaps a bit of distance would provide better perspective...

I would never have thought about that. I will be up at midnight to see if I can get into the online class.

Ha Ha no problem .....this site is for helping all not just one. Besides that it is great to read all the info passed back and forth . We have also heard that Foote is a great prof but good luck with who you have . We also tried to register early ( at midnight ) but were not able to . She is going to hold off on A&P this semester . She is still trying to find a good math prof at NE but so far nothing sooooo.....maybe luck of the draw lol. She is watching the numbers so time will tell
The one guy that we were told about does not have a class for the fall . Again good luck to you !

As I said earlier .....this site is about nursing not parenting and my child is very self sufficent and 110 % has a life away from me. If you knew my child you would know this . And not that it matters but maybe you will sleep better if you knew that her boss and teachers from school have all said what a mature self assured woman she is along with praising me for the wonderful job I have done with parenting her. It is very sad that you dont believe that you can be a parent and a friend ..You really are missing out on alot ...I feel sorry for you and your children . But hey I guess we will just have to agree to disagree This is the last time I will post about my parenting or my daughter neither is any of you business.....You on the other hand may continue to post till your hearts desire ...have the last word, its all good trust me I wont care nor will I lose any sleep over it.
To all you answered my thread thanks and sorry for the cat and mouse game here but do know I am finished with this one and thanks again for having my back

HI I am just starting my pre-reqs this fall so it will be awhile before I apply to any nursing program . I was accepted into a few colleges but thought I would save some money and do the basics at TCC after that we will see. There are some good nursing programs in Texas so its a matter of where I would like to go. I have visited UT, Tech ,Texas State and TWU as well as being accepted into the schools . ( I have visited others as well but they did not feel like the school for me ) I have heard great things about TCC and their nursing program but who knows where life will take me. I wish you the best of luck in your classes ,who knows maybe we will rub shoulders this fall
Scheffer is teaching College Algebra Summer II at NE Campus. He is the best, and I highly recommend him. I looked and he has 3 openings left.
Hi there and thank you for the info but I will not be attending classes during the summer . I did look to see if Scheffer was teaching any classes this fall and did not see his name anywhere. Looks like it will be luck of the draw ! Not really I will check out pick a professor and rate my professor at least that will give me some kind of leg to go on
I just wanted to throw a big THANKS out there to all who have answered the thread . You guys, well most have been helpful ! I did promise mom I would not do this :argue: with someone thats needs to get a life but I must say my mother has been there for me always and my decision to stay here and not go away has nothing to do with not having the tools in life to be on my own . Its a personal decision that I am happy with and really that is all that matters . She has raised four kids all doing good and in college . Well had to speak my mind but I will not argue with a certain someone either. I guess my mother will be the bigger person and let this go as for me I will act her age and let her act mine, she can continue to post and think what she wants I will ignore her and the drama . Gosh sounds like high school all over again .
Good luck to all nursing students we can do this !
