I'm waiting to get my last hep-b and meningitis immunization. Hopefully i can get it today and be done so i can have another thing to check off the list!

am I the only one who didn't know about the $2/hr tuition increase? LOL

I met with Shardee today and she didn't tell me that I needed the meningitis vaccine. I've never had it before... Why are you getting the shot, because of the new regulation or especifically for nursing? About the student id she said we will wear the horizontal one. I remember reading a post about nursing students wearing the vertical one, not true.

because of the new regulation incase I wanted to register for a non-nursing course. I know students over the age of 30 or students who did not take a break between semesters do not need it, something like that. but I'm under the age of 30 and I didn't go to school this semester.

as far as everything else I'm just going to wait and see what they say at orientation.

Yeah, that is a good idea because I asked about V-necks and about one of the books being the wrong edition, and she was clueless. She told me to ask about it at orientation. I really wanted to ask about the alternate's list, but I got shy... The nursing building is nothing like the main building, but it's ok as long as the program is good. Oh, btw for those who have and old ID, you do not need a new one. Just go to the copy center to get a whole in it. I did take a new picture and the lady didn't charge me :-)

So, majors books has that package up now that txhusker was talking about a while back. It has a lot of books for $200 and a pack that has hard copy and e books for $255. I haven't compared it with our list yet.

depending on which books are in the package that's not too.bad of a deal. I'm going to look in to it and crunch some numbers.

Let us know what you find out in the crunch. I haven't spent too much time researching prices because I can't buy my books yet anyways. I just spoke with my cousin and he said that him and a bunch of his friends are using the Foundations book that is one edition back. He said that it works fine for him and he doesn't have any problems with it because he doesn't even take it to class. At first I was going to get the newer edition but now I might get the older one. It is only $21.99 so if I didn't like it I could always buy the newer one and just be out 20 bucks. Haven't decided just yet. He said he uses his Drug Ref and foundations book the most.

Student- thats a good idea! that was what I was asking about a few pages back. The older edition books are so much cheaper just because they aren't "updated" aka they added a few pages of stuff. I didn't think it would be a big deal but someone from fall 2011 told me that professors referred to certain pages in the book so it might be an issue.

I might do that also. we have to buy the online access code for it anyway and most of those come with the e-text. So I don't see a problem with buying an older edition book (like one edition back) and get the updated access code with e-text? hmmm quite a conundrum... ill have to figure it out.

I've looked at the package and did some numbers.

This is for the first package without e-text. for $204.14 free shipping

it includes :

Pharmacology

Nursing skills (Text and online access)

Med. Surg. Nursing

I did a comparison with Amazon (w/shipping) with buying used or new books, the package deal is still a better deal. Even if I bought all of the books used, it is still about $3-$4 cheaper as a package. If I bought them new there is a $50 or so difference.

The package DOES NOT include the foundations book, the elsevier case studies, OR CID's.

Which I think that's how it was last semester also. I plan to buy my books to week of or after orientation.

If someone finds a better deal or if I stumble upon some ill let you guys know. Ill have to recalculate this also since I'm doing everything via my phone. No internet access where I'm at :( but so far, I think my numbers are close .

All the current students I know said they did not ever use the skills book, so as of now that is one I plan on leaving off the list. Also for anyone who has an ipad or iphone, the drug reference book might be one you can leave off as well, there is an app that is free for those devices and it has all the same information on medications.

Do you know which app they are using?
