I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.
Hello Ladies and Gents, I'm from the fall thread, I believe I have posted on here before. Congratulations on the acceptance. You are in for a very fun, but overwhelming, stressful time. Enjoy your break, trust me, you will miss it. The only thing I recommend you guys doing during your break is looking over dimensional analysis. You will use it for all your med calculations at TCC. It is easy if your practice but a simple mistake and rushing through your test will get you kicked out of the program. I'm a witness to this, so take my word. Don't rush and double check all your answers. The semester has been fun, Dreamer is actually my classmates, you will make wonderful friends while in the program. She is awesome and all the information she has given you guys is wonderful. It is nice to know what is ahead, for the first few weeks, you will feel like it is manageable but there is so much unanswered questions. Don't hesitate to ask questions from your upperclassman. Everyone is always willing to help. There is my spill.
To answer your question about shoes. Crocs are not allowed, backless shoes are not allowed. They have to be white and you have to have socks that go above just your ankle. Lab coat is optional to a certain extent. Some professors require it, others do not. Just consider that you will have different professors throughout the program. So, you might as well buy one.
Anyway, enjoy this happy feeling. Congrats to all. Enjoy your break because once January 17 rolls around, you will hit the ground running.
thanks Loly! I do have a question for both you and Dreamer - do you know when we get our schedules? Is it after orientation? I'm just curious since I really want to take ASL II in the spring but I can't register until I know...
Thank y'all both for all the wonderful advice. It has been so helpful!! :-)
For us, the schedules were posted 2 weeks after we turned in our acceptance letter. Don't worry about not registering with everyone else on the 15th. They will open registration just for you guys if it happens to be later. They do have new administration since alot of the others have retired and it seems that they already started doing things differently.
@loly- thanks for.the heads up Loly!! I was looking over the dimensional analysis stuff last week, so I guess ill print it out and begin studying..im actually REALLY nervous about that since math is my weakness... just an f.y.i. I may be asking you guys questions about that soon, the more prepared I feel the better.
and I know we can't wear crocs cause they have holes in them, but they have some new ones out which look like the dansko shoes cross is getting, they run about 50$ at academy.
as for the lab coat, ill go buy one to be on the safe side, lol.
I'm ready for the high stress!! I've taken at minimum 16 hours a semester for the past 4 semesters, I'm a young fulltime mother of twins and I work so I think I'm somewhat prepared!! if not, may Buddha have mercy on my poor soul. lol! :) *ssighh*
Hello everyone..Just a quick update.
I just talked to the Nursing department to ask about how we are to confirm they received our acceptance forms via email. I was told that they are going through the emails they received today and will be sending out emails no later than tomorrow am to confirm their confirmation. However, if anyone has sent in the acceptance letter back to them and you haven't heard back by receiving an email from the department..they advised that you should call them back before the end of the day tomorrow.
They are going to be sending out more information to us this week :) HOW EXCITING!!!!!
@ rossy- the only 6-6 clinicals are on Saturdays at jps. but there are only 10 spots for.that clinical. I know how you feel. I have twin 4 year holds so I've been scrambling to get things worked out. most clinicals are going to be 7am-1p or 1pm-7pm (which is what I'm shooting for) but I was told you can switch schedules with other people if your willing to switch entire schedules.
I turned in my form Thursday also but I haven't gotten anything back yet... hmm makes me.paranoid now... :/

that's the one i'm ordering! I was playing with it today at the store, I was in love :redpinkhe
if i order it tonight or tomorrow then it will probably get here by friday.
@cross- have you tried those long sleeve shirts or thermals with the cuff around the wrist? Not too fashionable, but they might work.. im sure the sleeves will cover most of the tattoo, maybe you can put a bandaid on part of the tattoo that shows OR get those BIG square bandaids like you put on your elbows. And yes, I did notice the pages about attire and dress code, im not too worried about it, I'll just have to get used to tying my hair in a pony tail.
I STILL havent found shoes...*sigh* I was thinking about getting Croc's but, i dont know. I hate shoes that make my feet sweat. I guess ill keep looking around. I have flat feet, and im not really fond of buying shoes online unless its a REALLY good deal.
Do we need to buy a lab coat or is that optional?
