Tarrant County College ranking system

U.S.A. Utah

Published

Hey everyone! Does anyone know what the actual system is to rank applicants to the TCC nursing program? I know the generalities, but would like to get a hold of the actual breakdown - how many points you get for GPA, TEAS score, etc.

I am a transfer student still working on my pre-req's, but my previous school (Austin Comm. College) published their point system on their webpage.

I will be applying in September 2009, have a 4.0 in all of my sciences and most of my other classes (I have one B in speech), and will get bonus points for my pharmacology class I took in Austin. Obviously, haven't taken TEAS yet.

If anyone knows the breakdown of points, I'd love to know what it is!

Your grades sound good, but I think that not having the micro completed at application time will hurt you. I have known people with all A's and missing one science class and not getting accepted. But if I were you I would still apply. I applied with all but A&P 2 completed the first time done knowing that there was a big chance of getting rejected, just to apply and get my one turn down out of the way :lol2:. I got turned down, applied in January of this year with all pre-reqs complete and got in!

Good luck to you on your journey!

Stephanie

Okay thank you so much. Im also applying to Midwestern State University and they give me points for currently being enrolled in courses. The lady told me that I shouldnt have any problems getting into the program, but that doesnt stop me from being terrified about not being accepted. im still looking for schools, but right now my only choices are Midwestern and TCC. My goal is to apply to schools that DONT require me to take more courses than I have already taken up until this point. But if I dont get accepted( Which I hope I DO) then Ill be taking some other courses required for other schools in the spiring term and applying again for fall 2010. But I WILL NOT GIVE UP!

Courses in progress do not count. This is what I found on the site:

Is there an entrance test?

Yes, the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). It consists of four content areas: math, reading, English, and science.

Applicants must complete the entrance examination, attend an information session and submit all required documentation in the application packet before the application deadline. Any course work in progress will not be considered. A grade of at least a "C" is required for all courses.

Oh wow...Im in trouble then....So TCC might be off of my list as far as applying for nursing programs for spring 10. Now Im down to one school and thats Midwestern State University.

@Future RN. Weatherford College is not too bad of a drive. About an hour from Fort Worth... or less. Brookhaven is in Dallas, and their program is 16 months.

OH wow..Im about 30-45 minutes away from Fort Worth....Ive tried all the DCCCD programs, their support classes is whats stopping me.

Oh Okay..... What support courses are you missing? Brookhaven support courses are a&PII, Micro(which you will have done by then), Nursing pathophysiology(TCC have an open class now), Pharmacology, Dosage Calculations for Nursing, End of Life Issues, Developmental Psy, Humanities, and Fine Arts.....

Which classes are you missing?

Brookhaven program is a bit different than El Centro.

I went to Mountain View to get advised and they said I needed 4 or 5 other courses in order to be in that competetive stage, so I said Oh WELL. And El Centro I needed some Health Professions class.

Future Nurse,

I too am lacking their pre-nursing courses and I'm at wits-end!! I need End of Life and Nursing Pathophysiology- They only offer one class for end of life to serve 2 colleges!!! Ughhhh!!!!!! This is driving me crazy!! If you have found anything out on where else I can take these courses, please let me know... I want to apply no later than for Fall, 2010. I'm just afraid I won't be able to make the deadline!
