So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
Watches - I went with a pin watch because I thought it'd be better than one I had to try and keep clean... it's a royal PITA to try and look at while you're doing anything... B/P, respirations, whatever. I ended up getting a large men's watch that was water resistant to 15m and had a plastic band. Silicone would probably work too... just make sure it's something you can scrub.
Parking at TREC really depends on the time of the day. I try to take classes that start at 8am, and haven't had to go to overflow parking yet. (knock on wood) There is overflow, but it's heck and gone from TREC. You may want to go down there sometime and scope out some of the pay-for-the-day lots in the area as a backup.
Good point. There is parking at TREC but it gets full quick, after that you park at trinity river but be warned that in the beginning of the semester trinity river garage may be full and you may have to park in overflow. Show up early and know where the overflow parking lot is just incase. Also, if for whatever reason you don't get your parking pass before class starts then you can still park in overflow. It doesn't require a pass.
thanks vc, antichick and student for the watch and parking info. Walking from the TR campus doesn't seem too bad but I don't care to be treking my books in the 100+ degree weather from overflow parking for sure. I'll sacrifice sleep to get there at the crack of dawn if I have to! lol
I have a question about the Dimensional Analysis. Some schools offer a class during the semester that you take until you test out (and hopefully pass!). How does TCC do it? Do we take it at the beginning of the semester? This is the test that we have to pass with 90%?
Thanks for your help in answering our questions and enlightening us all!!! It is all greatly appreciated!!
As far as I know there's not a dimensional math class.
They may have changed the process, but when I started Spring 2011, Dr. A gave a lecture on dimensional math at orientation. There is a workbook that was recommended that really helped me get confident in my math, it's Clinical Calculations Made Easy. If you're not solid on your math, I recommend it.
Also, I cannot think of an instructor at TCC who wouldn't help a student who reached out and made an appointment to get some extra help. :)
If you memorize the conversions that will be in your orientation packet (or in your CID), and really learn the dimensional math the way Dr. A teaches it, you'll be fine. Math is *not* my thing, but I've made no less than a 95% on any of the math tests.
The drilled the math into us the first couple of weeks. We had clinicals at campus so we did math during some of that time. You will go over and over it and if you still need help there will be plenty of student and instructors willing to help. The current peer assistant for TNSA (I spot I plan on running for at the end of the year) will be your guys peer assist for fall. He is great and will be more than willing to help!!
What is the best way to get in contact with an advisor for an appointmnet. Trying to get all my info sorted out before applying for the spring session, but can't seem to get ahold of anybody. I've tried calling the number listed on the TCC website and emailing but no response.... any advice?

I went up there this week to pick up something from Katherine, and she said the best way to get things to them is to email it to her. I guess you can scan whatever documents you have them attach
