So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
Hey everyone!!
I have been reading this forum from the beginning, and I am FINALLY joining the group!
Maam- I was an alternate, but just found out last week that I've been accepted!!
Which is why I'm so late joining the group.. I was reluctant to join fearing I wouldn't get in and embarrass myself!! But I can finally participate!
First off, I just wanted to say how nice it's been to see so many supportive and helpful people in this group! From the beginning I've wanted to meet and get to know all of y'all, and now that I'm accepted I can!!
Whoever's idea it was to meet before orientation was great. It would be nice to have a stable study group before classes even start. If y'all still want to meet let me know!!
Yayy can't wait! Congrats everyone :)
YYAAAYYY!!! Congratulations and welcome to the TCC nursing school family!
This is such a great group. I am so excited to get to know everyone too!
Sooo glad you brought up meeting before classes start.
Maybe as we get closer to orientation we can come up with a time and place that will work.
Happy for you! =D
CONGRATULATIONS KEELS!!! :yelclap: & welcome!! I know you must be thrilled, that was a long wait!! I'm so happy for you! This is a great bunch! I agree, I think meeting before orientation is a great idea, it'll make everything much less intimidating & more fun for orientation if we've already met.
Keels, that's great news!!! Congrats on being finished with that LOOONNGG wait! It's so much easier on this side of things. I am enjoying the break and as excited as I am to start nursing school, I don't want to rush this time in the least! This board is a great way to get your questions answered, thanks to a few students already in the program who've provided great tips and insight for us newbies! I agree. A pre-orientation get together sounds like a great idea!!!
Okay so where's everybody at in knocking off their to-do list??? I finished the background check, physical and ordered most of my books. I still need to sew my patches on but other than that I think I can't really do much more until August. Orientation, CIDs, drug test, ID, parking and tuition can't be done til August, is that right? I've got my stethoscope, shoes and patches, still need to get my uniform tops. They were on backorder and won't be here til end of July. I got a great deal and they're pretty cute, but since I can't find them anywhere else, I'm wondering if they're being discontinued. I may just be on the lookout for a style I can try on in the store, in case these never make it to me.
I'm getting so excited!!!!!
Congratulations Amanda!! :w00t:
I haven't ordered my stethoscope yet... but the website someone gave was medisave.net, I've looked at a lot of other websites and they seem to be the cheapest, but that's been over a month ago that I did that so you might want to check out some other places and make sure.
The books we need are on the "Important Nursing Information-Fall 2012.pdf" that's the one that has a ton of pages, and it starts on page 9. Someone said they ordered their's but the website said they won't be able to ship it out, I can't remember why, until July? I'm not sure about all that! lol So who ever said it please correct me! Also, that's if you are going to order the package from majors.
welcome Amanda! Stethoscope with free engraving is at medisave.net (I looked at a few places but I'm pretty sure I'm telling you right). I went with Littmann.
The book list should be in one of the attachments they sent you with your acceptance email. I purchased a couple through amazon and the ebooks you can get through Majors bookstore or through evolve/elsevier.
I'm running out the door but I'll check back later in case you have any other questions. Congrats again to you both!!!!

I took chemistry as an online class at the NW campus. It wasn't bad, the lecture part was online and then once a week we went in for lab. I think the lab was like 4 hrs? I can't remember exactly, but what our prof did was go over material that we covered in lecture that week at the beginning of class so if we needed any help over anything we could ask questions then. You take your lecture tests at the testing center but you have as much time as you need. And you go over power points online for lecture and take quizzes online for lecture. After the "lecture" part of the lab we would take a quiz over what we did the pervious week in lab and after that we started our new lesson. You have a lab partner so you do the experiments together and when you are finished you can leave. So most of the time you don't stay the full class period, which is nice. Overall I really liked taking the class that way. This probably isn't how every prof does their online class but it might give you an idea of what to expect. How this helps! :)
