So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
Congrats to you 2 Keels...maamcdonald & vc1478 thanks for the information I'll check that website out.
I talked to one of my friends who started the nursing program this past semester and she said we really don't need our skills book but I'm iffy if I should still buy it or not. Any thoughts? She did say we will need a good Nursing drug book and Nursing care plan book.
On our orientation paperwork it says they will be selling scrubs there as well. Do you guys think it's best to buy them there or do your own shopping?
Also I'm trying to sign up for the $38.00 class to get your CPR cert and I can't register I guess I have to turn in my menigitis paperwork before I can sign up for classes? Don't know
I heard that too, so I just ordered the online portion that we need and skipped buying the book. I have a 2010 drug book and will probably stick with that. TCC offers an online resource free to students. Also if you have an iPhone there's a free drug app that was highly recommended. I'm not much help with CPR. Read a few pages back, I think there's a bunch of people going thru TCC, a great option once you get your meningitis completed. If you go elsewhere, it will be probably be pricier. I went through Cook's a while back and it was around $90ish.

I'm just going to buy scrubs myself, that way I'm able to try them on and make sure I like them, but people have said they are really cheap if you get them at orientation.
Also, I don't know if you are interested or not, but the CPR class I'm taking and also that Christin is taking, is at the TCC NW campus and is only $15 (& it will be taught by a nurse). A few pages back we were talking about it and I posted the number and other stuff. There were only 6 spaces in the class total, and when I registered there were 3 left. So I guess you would want to call and check to see if there are any left now, you have to go up to the school to pay and register. But, it's a great deal if you haven't gotten your shot yet and can't register for the other class on web advisor. Just thought I'd let you know! :)
I went through the elsevier evolve website. You should already have a login and password from when you took the HESI. If you lost it, just open a new account.
Here's what you're looking for:

They also offer it with the book so double check and make sure its just the online skills version. It cost $64.95. I think they also offer it at Majors for around the same amount.
Congrats Amanda & Keels!! This is a great group and I am so excited to start!
@ Christin & vc,
I got signed up for the July 12th class at NW last week too! I actually met one of our fellow "allnursers" in line at business services, Caitlyn. She was signing up for the same class! So there should be at least 4 of us from allnurses. I am excited!
I am in my second week of summer school taking US govt and Statistics. Stats is keeping me on my toes..I swear I do 6 hrs of homework a day, am still not caught up, and we have already had 3 quizzes and my first test is tomorrow. Please pray for me! I cannot wait til July 5th! Then it is CPR and then a beach vacay and on to getting all my stuff for the program.
I check this site often from my phone but haven't had a chance to post in awhile. Welcome to all the new posters!!
Thanks maam- I do remember seeing that now, good lord!
And thank you christin and Kate! I'm really excited!!
I feel like I'm behind right now trying to get everything together and such!!! I'm trying to figure out how I want to do the books, anyone buying them yet? If so, from where? Or have an idea what y'all are going to do? That's the only thing stressing me right now.. Y'all let me know!!
Thanks ladies!!!
Thanks you Christin & Kate :)
I just signed up for the CPR class @ NE campus. Scheduled for 6/18 & 6/20 6-10 pm anyone else sign up for that time?
Keels, I haven't bought any of my books yet I'm searching to see where I can get them cheaper.
Do you guys think it will be better to purchase the books or rent them out?
Thanks

@ Kate- Yay! That's great! I'm super excited that y'all will be taking that CPR class too! That'll make it so much more fun, & I'm excited to meet y'all! Good luck with your stats & govt classes! I'll pray that all goes well with stats!! :)
@ keels & Amanda- I'm going to buy the package where I get the books and online access so I can take my iPad with me to class and not have to lug around those heavy books, but I know other people are buying them separate which is cheaper! So I guess it'll just depend on if you want to trade convenience and pay more, or if you don't mind doing a little searching, then you can get them much cheaper! Most of the time before now, I've bought mine online and searched for them through bigwords.com, which searches a ton of websites for you and it'll show you the cheapest price, or I've rented my books from chegg.com or collegebookrenter.com (which I really liked). But I think I'm going to want to keep my nursing books so I'm going for convenience this time! lol
Don't worry you've got plenty of time to get everything done!
Amanda- I was considering renting mine too. Cheggs you can highlight and such, and they're pretty cheap to rent. I'm going to look around some more, I don't want to rush into buying anything yet, but I'm definitely considering renting.
I'll let you know if I find any cheap books, I'll keep y'all posted!!!!
