U.S.A. Texas

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

Kate- I just called the number they gave us to "call and register for CPR" and she told me that it was a mistake and we do have to wait until Aug 3rd to register at orientation.

that is ridiculous. it must have been the same packet they sent us. They let us call to register last semester, but i think they changed it because a lot of people would call and register in a spot and then call back to change what day they wanted to do it.

If you guys get to orientation early, there will be a long table by the door into the room and you guys will probably sign up there.

I just looked up the classes at the hospitals around me and the soonest one isn't until September!

Actually I just found this one from Cook Children's. It's split into two parts, online and a skills portion where you go up to the hospital. Here is the link if anyone is interested...

go to webadvisor and look at classes under continuing education and then under emergency medical services and you will see cpr for healthcare providers and there are lots of classes. It looks like it cost $38

Thanks!!!

Christin are you doing one of these? I would like to take the class with someone, if possible! lol

I also just got off the phone with the NW campus and they offer a class on July 12th from 10-2. and its $15. You have to go to their office, then business, services to register. If that campus isn't close to you try calling one that is and look up number for health services

wow! $15? that's cheap! and it's the class that we need?

i've actually taken classes at all of the tcc campuses, so i don't mind driving to any of them. so i would need to go to the health services office first?

I asked her if its for healthcare provider and she said yes. She said you need to come by the health services office in WCTS and get a slip, then take it to business services to pay then go back to her office and she will sign you up. If I can get someone to watch my kids I will be going to that one, it's the cheapest and it's only 4hours, where some of the other ones are 8 hours!

Yeah I saw that too, 8 hrs is a long time! Thank you so much for that info!! I will have to wait until the end of the week to go up there, so hopefully there will still be enough spaces left. That really is the best option.

That would be great if we can take it together. I will let you know if I am able to take that one

Just signed up for the class at NE on the 13th of June. It was $38.00. I just registered and paid through web advisor. My kids are with their grandparents at a vacation bible school that week so, I'm going to knock it out while they're gone. If anyone else ends up in that class let me know.

Hope122....I got my stethoscope in the mail today! It seems to work great!! Granted I dont really know exactly what it is suppose to sound like haha. Nevertheless, it is super light and I can barely feel it while its around my neck! It didnt hurt my ears, theres a way to adjust the sound also so thats helpful! Overall, I am pretty happy with it so far!
