Tarrant County College Fall 2012

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

Kate- I'm planning on waiting until August to do CPR through TNSA also. I'm just worried what if everyone is waiting until then to do it. I guess if all the spots are taken, I have the rest of the month to get it done somewhere else.

After you do the background check, they also give you a confirmation # on the receipt that you print.

I just looked at my receipt and that's a transaction #, but I got the confirmation # in an email.

I just got my stethoscope too! It's a Littmann and I have to say as beautiful as it looks, it kills my ears. Is there a break-in period? I've tried pulling the ends apart to loosen them. I hope with a little use, my ears will relax. It was funny, when I first tried it out the pressure was so hard I started to see stars and could hear my own pulse from my ears--not from the steth. Lol Anyways just had to come on and say she's plum and purdy!!

Thanks for the info about the background check!! I ordered the Littmann Lightweight II Se in lilac with my name engraved on it!! I cant wait to get it!

That's the one I want, the LightweightII! When you get it in, let me know if it hurts your ears, ok? I've read about that and judging from a few things that I have come across, when you pull the "bell" part forward to listen, it pulls the whole thing forward & it's supposed to be more comfortable than when just hanging straight down.....idk

Does it not work to pull the ear pieces apart? I'm wondering because I even get a headache from a ponytail sometimes! :(

Thank you! Guess it's 3 semesters for me and then pray to God I get in the fall program lol

Just an FYI, I called nursing today about a question on my immunizations, and she happened to ask me if I was planning on renewing my CPR before orientation. She said that they only have 60 spots available so she recommends doing CPR class on your own because there won't be enough spaces for everyone.

Thanks Christin!!

just curious...are you faxing your forms as you get them done (immunizations, dr forms, etc) or are you just planning on bringing them to orientation?

It just says they are all due at orientation, so I was just going to take them with me then.

Where is a good place to take CPR off campus? Any certain hospital recommended? I was going to call to reg for one of the TNSA ones, but then noticed on the check off sheet it said sign ups are at orientation..makes me nervous possibly not getting a seat in one. Is that correct we can't sign up til the 3rd?

I thought about faxing everything but I think I will just make a file for orientation and bring it all...I think it is liable to get lost otherwise.. IDK?

Also, 3rd hep B shot is 6 months after the first, correct? That's what I have seen online, but the MA at my dr office did not seem to be too well in the know about it..
