So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!
Thanks for the advice K and C! I'm scared I may have waited until it's too late to take that (I mean I'm pretty sure I don't want to take it in the summer & I don't want to take it with nursing) & I'm going to be in a bind by the time I have to have it done. One of my teachers told me about this website that has a lot of tutorials on just about every subject. I looked at it and there is a TON of statistics tutorials and it's free. I didn't watch any of them, just noticed they had a lot. The website is: khanacademy.com. Maybe that'll be helpful to you Kate.
I'm taking U.S. Govt summer 1 too, but I'll be at NE campus.
Ok Jackie, I looked and the only opening ***** had was exactly when I'm taking my US Govt class at NE. So, I looked at all the campuses and I registered for stats with ***** at SE campus (where is that even?). Anyway, I REALLY don't want to take anything for summer 2, but his reviews on RMP are amazing and this may be the best time for me to get this knocked out. He only had one spot left so, I hope it works out!!
Kate- I called up there today and found out I was on automatic suspension because in spring of 2008 I dropped all of my classes (because I was starting a new job). So that's what was holding it up. I had to go up there twice today to get it all taken care of so they should send an award letter sometime next week. I'm glad I called or I would've still just been waiting until the last minute! lol... I also thought stats was the hardest class I've taken so far! I did end up with an A, but it nearly killed me. I took **** also but it was online. It was horrible, the only reason I ended up with an A is because he must have curved our grades big time. Everyone wasn't doing very well on the tests at all... And, yes the first tests are the easiest (just to warn you!) I'm sure taking it on campus is a MUCH better decision though. lol
I like math but it looks hard...I am taking it sum 1 on campus and got my book last week. I cracked it open and am a little scared to be honest!! I plan on busting my behind during sum 1 with that and US Govt online, and then taking a break sum 2. I need those classes and really just want to knock out stats especially. I am taking it w/ ***** at NE in the evenings. He has great reviews on RMP and has already been helpful in responding to my email about the book..I was able to rent it from chegg for like 38 bucks! Are you already taking classes this summer?I went to Texas Tech my freshman year - wayyyy back in 97. I loved it there so much! I moved home for my sophomore year and attended UNT because my father was ill, then just messed around and never finished
So, part of my heart is leaning towards their online RN-BSN program, and really it costs less than TWU when I compared tuition. I guess I will wait and see what Tarleton offers of course!
I know a nurse who went to Texas Tech for his RN-BSN and REALLY recommended it to me (actually it was just a few days ago that he told me this). But, I didn't know it was less that TWU. Thanks for that! :) I just really want to start working ASAP, so that's why I really want to do an online program. I wonder how TCC/Tarleton's will be...
Congrats to all the new nursing students! I can't wait to be in your shoes. Was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for other websites or study guides for the HESI. I did buy the book from the bookstore but wondering if that is enough? Did anyone purchase flashcards or have a good website you referred to? Your opinions are greatly appreciated. I will be applying in Aug/Sep so I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks everyone.
All I used was the study guide. It is enough for all of the sections except the vocab (even though that section is huge), I'm not really sure what else you could study for that though. Some of the other girls might know a website. I would def. still study that section in the study guide though! Good luck! :)
I seriously am scared about stats! I have looked through my professor's shared files on CC and OMGosh about the formulas...I really don't know what I have gotten myself into.
@ KLP - quizlet is a great site for studying vocab for HESI. Know you metric-english conversions for math & know military time. Know ratios - like 4:10 is equal to 4/10. Mine had a ton of ratio problems. There is a calculator built into the progam.
The vocab is really the only thing where they can throw a random one at ya. Grammar is pretty basic if english is your first language and on the reading, just take your time, and read everything and you'll be fine!

My personal opinion, statistics was harder than A&P. I killed myself in that class to pull out an A. I have heard that some people love i thought. I would proceed as Kate is and read ahead if you're going to attempt it in the summer. Some of the professors at TCC are great about giving you the syllabus if you ask for it. I would ask for it and get started. I was ok though the first two tests and then struggled the rest of the way!!
