U.S.A. Texas

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

Kate, I'm sure there will be people who will switch. For instance, if I end up with Tuesday for clinical I will hope to switch because that's my husbands late night. We will all work it out. I'm kind of glad there are more 12 hour clinicals though. It will save us drive time and additional time at the hospital picking our patients. I'm getting so excited. I bought some books today and feel like I am getting a handle on things. Especially thanks to all of the current students who have been posting. I can't wait to get started!!

I feel the same way Caitlyn! I am really nervous but am soooo excited to get the ball rolling! All these experienced nursing students are making me feel really comfortable and pumped to get going!! I really appreciate all the help and support we are getting from current nursing students!! It really means a lot! Can't wait until I get paid so I can start buying all types of items! :)

I agree with Caitlyn, there will be so many people with different preferences and your nightmare schedule will be somebody else's dream schedule. That's exactly how it was with flying. With 130 other people you are bound to find someone who will be willing to trade with you. In fact, depending on what hospital, I'll happily take your 12-hr Monday clinical for you! :)

It's getting real folks!!! I got two books today and I can't wait to crack them open! WOO HOO...let's hope this feeling lasts all semester and I'll be a studyin' fool!

I just looked at all the possible schedule options and I am really hoping to get that Saturday clinical with the early skills and foundations classes. Hopefully I get extremely lucky or find someone who has that schedule and is willing to trade!! I wish orientation was sooner! I just want to learn everything there is to know and meet new people!!

Thanks - y'all calmed me down some! I swear I always find stuff to worry about and really need to change that!

Caitlyn I totally agree, I would love an all day clinical during the week...except Monday of course..

You guys are right it will all work out, everything else has so far! I am truly so excited it doesn't seem real yet still!

Omg, I haven't been on here all day so I've been reading and catching up! I am so thankful to all of you current nursing students!!! Y'all are a HUGE help! I'm nervous because there is so much to do to get ready! So are most of you going to just buy the books separately and not buy the bundle? Or are y'all talking about the others we need that aren't included in the bundle?

Vc, I'm cheap lol. Or maybe a bargain shopper would be a kinder word for me. I am piecing it together. There are some components, such as nursing lab that I will have to purchase but, I'm going to piece the rest together. I buy international editions if I can find them, if not I buy used. It seems like I can usually spend about half of what the school charges, but will see if it works with these books or not. Plus, i sell my books to amazon so I usually have a really good credit waiting for me there. They gave me $70.00 for my used lifespan book last semester, couldn't believe that. I bought it used for $60.00 so check that out for buying and selling books!!

Wow! That's great Caitlyn! You really are a bargain shopper! I usually just rent my books, and that's worked great for me so far, so I'm really not looking forward to having to buy books. Lol, I cringe thinking about all that money for one semester of books, but I really like the idea of buying all of them at once and being done with it lol. I guess for me it'll all depend on how much financial aid I end up getting, so I better start hunting just incase I don't get as much as I'm thinking I might. Lol

Does anyone know how much tuition will be for the first semester?

Im not sure yet. I was wondering about that myself? I know it is tempting to buy the bundle. I thought the price was reasonable too, considering everything you get!! I hope you get more than enough on the financial aid side where you can just buy the bundle and be done with it :0)!! Makes life easier!

That's true, they really do give you a lot in the bundle. I guess I need to call up to the financial aid office, I turned in all of my stuff that they needed from me at the beginning of April so now I'm just waiting on my award letter. I know I won't get the actual money until right before classes start but I'm hoping it isn't the same way with the award letter. I sure would like to know how much I have to work with :)

The schedules that are posted usually have a legend with clinical sites on it and it is posted on the nursing self registration tab in TCCD website nursing section. They haven't updated with the fall 2012 semester and I'm not sure if they include foundations but keep an eye out of it. This should help when trading or scheduling your classes for subsequent semester.
