Tarrant County College Fall 2012

Published

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

@ Vc-

the first sem is 9 hours, so actual tuition is 9 X $52 = $468. Not bad!! I plan on taking online nutrition in addition..so that I get 100% of the grant I have received..lol. Hopefully I am not crazy to add a class to the first sem of nursing, but honestly I get quite a bit more if I have 3 more hours and adding one online class will do it :)

Those who have finished first sem - am I crazy? I am hoping nutrition won't be too too hard of a class??

Specializes in LTAC, ICU, ER, Informatics.

In addition to the tuition there are a few miscellaneous fees for lab/clinical classes, just so you're prepared. It's something on the order of $12. There is also likely to be a testing fee that they may add into the tuition statement or you may have to pay it on your own. They changed testing software on us this semester, and there was also something about the evolve online access, we ended up having to pay that out of pocket. Some grant money turned up for some of it since it was a shock to us, so I don't know how they're setting up payment for that this year.

Just want you to be prepared that there's more than just the per hour tuition that will show up. :)

I ordered the bundle from Majors and they called to tell me that they won't be ordering the books until they get a heads-up from TCC about how many students are admitted. They said we should have them by the end of June at the latest, just fyi. Not a big deal, but kind of a bummer b/c I was looking forward to getting them in soon.

Thanks Kate!! Yeah $468 isn't bad at all. I wonder if my financial will be the same way :/ I might need to do the same thing to technically be considered full time. I still need to take history 1302...

I hope I am not crazy! I am gonna take algebra. I need to be full time bc of the grant money and what not.

Does anyone know what we are supposed to take and how many hours we will be in for each semester of nursing? A long time ago TCC had a suggested sched on the home page but they dont any longer.

Does anyone know if math 1314 will xfer to T State to fulfill the stats requirement? Thanks!

I can't tell if it's the same class. Also, it doesn't list college algebra on the Tarleton nursing prereqs, but if you look at their statistics class, it says completion of college alg. is required before you can take statistics. That's why I was wondering if math 1314 is the same as their stats class. Does that even make sense

@ Hope - Math 1314 is algebra I believe. You will need 1342 to fulfill your stats requirements at most universities I believe. Hope that helps!

Also, I believe that if you take 1342 then that fulfills your 1314 requirements...at least at Texas Tech it does...

I just did my background check online...hope I did it right!! One thing down, 1000 left to do!!

Thanks Kate!

I meant 1342 (not 1314). My son goes to Tech :) He said he thought stats was hard and he's an economics major (takes a lot of math). It makes me think I will have a hard time taking it in a summer semester. What do you think?

I like math but it looks hard...I am taking it sum 1 on campus and got my book last week. I cracked it open and am a little scared to be honest!! I plan on busting my behind during sum 1 with that and US Govt online, and then taking a break sum 2. I need those classes and really just want to knock out stats especially. I am taking it w/ **** at NE in the evenings. He has great reviews on RMP and has already been helpful in responding to my email about the book..I was able to rent it from chegg for like 38 bucks! Are you already taking classes this summer?

I went to Texas Tech my freshman year - wayyyy back in 97. I loved it there so much! I moved home for my sophomore year and attended UNT because my father was ill, then just messed around and never finished :( So, part of my heart is leaning towards their online RN-BSN program, and really it costs less than TWU when I compared tuition. I guess I will wait and see what Tarleton offers of course!

VC- @ financial aid - be sure you are checking webadvisor if you are waiting on an award letter for fall. I got mine a couple weeks ago, but I believe I submitted my stuff back in mid March. You may already know to check there...but just in case :)
