Tarrant County College Fall 2012

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

You guys got me worried now.. My science gpa is 3.75 and I made an 88% on the HESI.. Everyones so much higher than mines =x

@Ddiabmarzouk, that makes me feel better!! I have a 4.0 and 92.5 on HESI. I can't believe that all of these 4.0gpa students didn't get accepted into UTA! but like one of the other girls said, you must be meant for TCC!!

The thing is UTA has so many things to "consider" being partnered, how many classes you take there, how many science classes yyou take there...and the list goes on... They are in the top 5 nursing schools in Texas...I'm kind of shocked about the amount of 4.0 ppl getting rejected but when you consider how many applicants they are getting idk its frustrating but it is what it is? Everything happens for a reason...at this point I'm just praying I get into TCC I wonder what our applicant pool is like?

It was a TCC advisor that told me that when I turned my application in. She didn't say a lot of people get 100, she just said "some". I did read the thread from the spring applicants and maybe we are just freaking out a little because people are getting rejection letters (from other schools). That is pretty unnerving, especially since the scores are high. Hopefully we'll know something soon. A good thing that I did notice while reading the Spring thread was that it looked like most, if not all, of the alternates were admitted after all. Thank goodness!!! So it's not the end of the world if you're not accepted in the first round.

I just mentioned that because I always check my CC email and then I come straight to this board because I think if I don't have "the" email and all of you are celebrating, then it's bad news, but maybe not!!

Ddiabmarzouk, I think what your advisor told you seems very reasonable.

Hi JustJackie. Do you mind telling us what grades that are "well above" are? You mentioned an advisor by name in one of your posts and I'm just wondering if he was who you had because according to a few of the other advisors at TR campus, he is the person who does the first level of "processing" the applications. Just curious. Thanks!

Rocky was who I met with, he was so kind!

Rocky was who I turned my application into. He told me that last semester the lowest GPA they accepted was a 3.5 and an 87 on the HESI. (I wrote this all down when he told me) He said that he didnt anticipate the grades being too far from that for this semester. I had a 4.0 and a 93 on the HESI so he said that I would have gotten in last semester and didnt see me having any trouble for this fall. Rocky also told me that we would prob know by the end of March... and since that didnt happen, I have been going crazy! I am hoping we find out something soon, because like a lot of you, I kind of put all my eggs in one baskey with applying to TCC only.

I did have a question and I will probably post it in the FB group too... I read through a lot of old posts, I know most people on here intend to bridge to get a BSN. (I have always fully intended to do that as well) but I saw someone mentioning that only having an Assoc. makes it harder to find a nursing job? I used to work at a hospital before I got laid off (at HEB) and they were desperate for nurses... so are most places only wanting a BSN?

Thanks Jackie, that makes sense that this semester's grades shouldn't be so different. He was not my original advisor, but he told me mid to late April, so....

I have a few friends that are "established" nurses ( because of age ;) and their experience ). They say there is a need and DON'T worry about that. I will tell you that one of my best friends is a neuro ICU nurse and she makes good $. I'm pretty sure the other few don't make what she does, but I don't have the guts to ask. She is a BSN at a Harris Ft Worth. She just told me that they only want RNs (did not specify ADN/BSN) and they are phasing out LVNs in the hospital. One is a nurse at Spine Team Texas in Southlake (ADN) and loves her job. Both have assured me I won't have trouble finding a job, however, I do hear and read differing opinions. Wish I could be of more help. I'm sure BSN trumps ADN when competing for a job, but I don't know that we won't be able to find a job with just an ADN. Just going to have to take this first step and see I guess

Hoping that this is our week!! Good luck everyone!
