Tarrant County College Applicants for Spring 2011

Published

Hi everyone,

I will apply TCC Nursing school for Spring 2011. I will do my TEAS on 09/18 then apply.

Just want to share some info about your GPA, TEAS score, and some of the tips for the TEAS test.

I study a lot for the test but still nevous.... cross my finger.

My GPA overall: 4.0

TEAS score: i will know later

Wow, already? I guess they must be in competition with WC since they sent out their letters early too.

Sort of glad I wasn't eligible to apply this period since I would have been on pins and needles waiting for my mail after reading your post. Just a thought here, if your friend had a good GPA and good TEAS score, maybe there were other factors that played in their decision in rejecting her application, and since there was a hole in her application, they felt that she needed to know right away rather than wait until the end of November to find out. I have heard that the nursing department is really picky, for instance, if they look at your application and they see that your hep b series is not complete and that the third shot will not be complete by the first day of classes, that alone makes them throw your application out. I guess it shows lack of time management (I read that somewhere) So, maybe you can ask your friend if she had all her T's crossed and all her i's dotted, that might give her a peace of mind that it wasn't really her GPA/TEAS score that she has to worry about for the next application period. Anyway, Good Luck! I'll be in your shoes in a few months. :yeah:

Great. Now I'm checking my mailbox (as a friend of mine used to say) like a crack-addicted rat. ;)

Yep, i can not imagine that they send out the letter that early. As my knowledge that we will got the letter on first week of Dec, i feel it's still early though.

And i check with my friend the reason why she not get accepted. TCC Nursing Department says that she did not finish English Comp I and Math. However, she did all finish them, just TCC registra and record mess up her transcript. I advice her to go to the Nursing Department and do an appeal. It's upset me because a student with 4.0 GPA and 90 TEAS score, it's impossible for her to get reject. Well, just my opinion. Now, keep checking my mailbox everyday until Dec.

Is it appropriate to write a little essay or something about yourself and why you want to be a nurse? What I dont like about the application process is they really dont know who you are? I dont think everyone should just be judged on numbers alone. Not to say its not important b/c it definitely is. But I also think it takes a certain type of person/character to become a nurse. Thoughts?

Hello fellow applicants. Bev informed me on yesterday that letters will go out in a couple of weeks. :-)) very exciting. But I was hoping to get more of you to share your numbers. I scored in the 99th percentile on the teas (95th in math and 96th in science) 88.7 overall adjusted score and have a 3.78 overall gpa and 3.75 science gpa.

I wish that were the case, but to comply with a number of equal opportunity things, they ONLY look at the numbers - GPA, TEAS, etc.

I used to be a Paramedic (but not currently licensed or I'd do the Fast Track) and *know* that I'm suited for E.R. and critical care nursing. It's what I dream about doing, and I'll be taking a pay cut from my current job as a computer geek to go back into medical. But they can't look at that. Just my scores. :/

gosh it makes me so nervous waiting around for the letters. ive been stalking the mailman at my apartment when i heard about the girl above that got a rejection letter! did bev say exactly when?im leaving town next weekend, but i wont if the letters have a chance of coming, any one have an idea of how many people applied?

You should be fine for a trip next week, it may help with the wait. I talked to her again yesterday (so much so now that she knows my voice) it will be the week before thanksgiving. 375 people applied for 130 spots, they didn't have ranges for the gpa's and teas scores that got in yet. Did find out that the classes will be at trinty starting in the fall and they're going to have a simulation hospital there. Really cool

You know, they should just post the ranges & stuff (not personal info, just the statistical means) on the website, it would save them a lot of calls. :coollook:

Thanks for posting as you get info. :yeah:

gosh, thanks for all the information. seems like 375 people is ALOT! are they still accepting 130? seems like you dont have much to worry about, your teas scores are absolutely amazing! i dont know what will happen with me, i have half a's and b's and got an 81 over all on my teas:confused::confused::confused:i dont know what to think!

@the antichickThat is a great idea. This waiting is making me a little nutty. But, every post I get to read from you guys is easing the wait. @lolocoroThank you very much, I worked my butt off and got a little lucky. I am still extremely nervous about getting in, i'll believe it when I get that acceptance letter. You should be fine; I was told that most teas overall scores are in the 60's and 70's. So an 81 with a 3.5 should be very competitive. What is your science Gpa

i have two a's and two b's. a's in the a and ps and bs in the micro and chem. all my shots are done and i turned that in, and all my classes are finished so i hope that helps.

girl! your gonna get in, so i guess theres only 129 spots haha!=)

this is all i want for my birthday and christmas, to get into nursing school! never wanted anything more=) i wish they could just email us, i hate checking the mail! i live in an apt, so its especially a pain in the butt! bev is a sweet lady,i would get so annoyed with everyone calling! =)
