Tarrant County College ADN Fall 2016

Published

Hi there! This topic is for students applying for TCCD Fall 2016 ADN program. I'm excited about getting the ball rolling!

It is a little tricky for me cuz sometimes I think I am so much more efficient when I can learn at my own pace when I am available instead of a set class schedule. But sometimes it helps to have a set schedule cuz you can't make excuses to procrastinate haha.

You are definitely not alone! We are all anxious. Haha.

Hello all! I found this post for tccd fall 2016 and made an account to be able to post. I'm super anxious about the wait as well. I've read through the entire thread and would like to wish everyone the best of luck! I have 4 children, aged 17, 13, 11 and 4 and a husband that is probably tired of hearing me going on about getting accepted and being worried too. I turned in my app to Katherine early March and she did say that there were a lower than usual number of applicants so that's probably a good sign for us! I applied with a 4.0 GPA and a 92.5 HESI. I took the HESI in February and the critical thinking part was very simple, kind of just to see how you think on your feet and prioritize I think. Is there a facebook group for fall 2016 yet?

@LinLoza Based on your scores I don't think you have anything to be worried about! I've heard from several people now that the application number was lower than usual, so that's good news! Hopefully they will process them quickly and we'll get emails on time. That would be awesome. I don't believe there is a Facebook page for Fall 2016 yet. I searched the other day and didn't find one. Maybe we should start one?

Another current Spring 2016 Student here if anyone has any questions. Good luck to you all.

Are you doing all your classes on campus? Do you recommend reading the textbook before starting the first semester?

I'm doing on campus classes. I have a three day schedule, some people have a two day schedule meaning they have skills and lecture on the same day. What questions did you have?

As far as the text, you'll benefit from getting a head start on the first readings because the first test is over many chapters and it can be a little overwhelming getting started. I wouldn't go nuts though, because you may have a hard time recognizing what's important, what to study, etc until you get to lecture. Personally, I would spend my time finding a calendar and planner system that I liked, making sure I had my supplies in order, and noting every single due date on your calendar as soon as you get your CIDs.

Isn't there an option for hybrid classes? If there is, I doubt I'll choose that option but I know some people had some questions about them.

Thanks @kylieneden! The waiting is so nerve racking. I think starting a FB page would be great!

Yes it is very stressful! Especially now that it's April! I'm trying very hard to be patient. lol. At least we aren't alone! I was going crazy before I found this forum.

I've always just read the posts on here, this is my first time ever posting on a thread. We're the ones that will be together for the next couple years if we get in though so I figured we could get a jump start on meeting each other!

Agreed! I am the same way. I've never posted on a board but I figured this would be a good place to talk about the process/stresses of applying so that I'm not talking about it all the time. Plus, like you said, we will be starting together and it will be nice to be acquainted with some fellow students.
