Tarrant County College ADN Fall 2016

Published

Hi there! This topic is for students applying for TCCD Fall 2016 ADN program. I'm excited about getting the ball rolling!

I have to wear scrubs at my work and I love my grey's scrubs. Medcoture fits nice too but a lot of those scrubs have 2 colors and are not just one solid. Wonder wink is nice too but again not always one solid color. Cherokee Luxe is nice but their other lines suck. They fit weird. I have the work wear pants from Cherokee because it's like the only brand that makes petite khaki and I have to pull them up past my navel and they still fit loose.

I think 2-3 pairs are suitable. Dansko and Sanita make the best clogs ;) I work in a ER and my mom has been a nurse for 25+ years so I go to her and my other colleagues for scrub advice. A friend of mine graduated from TCC last year. I can always text her and see what she has to say in terms of uniforms. I think she had the Cherokee Luxe and some greys

Oh wow. I will probably just do the greys. Ive tried them on and they fit me really well (I'm really short). Their petite scrubs actually stop at my feet and don't go all the way past.

I'm thinking about going with greys too. You don't have to put much effort in terms of drying and they iron easy sometimes you don't need to iron them and they don't wrinkle. I really like them and Amazon has them at a good price too. I would avoid Scrubs sold at Army Navy and Walmart.

Definitely! My mom works in a hospital and she said never, ever buy the Walmart scrubs. They don't last and they don't fit well.

Are any of you ladies familiar with what the blended, hybrid and on campus options? I'm wondering which one is best. I like online classes but I don't want to be way in over my head.

No I'm not. They tell you in the acceptance email. I think they are on campus but one may be 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

Oh okay. I'm not sure which one I would pick. I'm leaning toward on campus just because I would feel more connected. I've taken a few classes online but I always seem to get more out of the classes that are held on campus.

I'm not sure. I tend to prefer going to class just because I feel that I get more out of it, but that's just me. It's probably a good option for people who have to work, though.

I will want to do the campus based program if I get in. I learn more when I have a teacher in front of me. Are either one of you planning on working during the program? I hope to not work during the foundations semester.

I have to work but it's in my benefit to keep my job too. I work for THR so it's good to keep my name in the system, especially when it comes time to graduate. Full time for my position is 3 days a week so I'm likely going to a Friday- Sunday schedule that way I have weekdays to just focus on school. I know a lot of people at my work that worked full time and completed their ADN programs. They all warned me that first semester is the most difficult but to just keep your head down, prepare and study and you'll be fine

Yes, I'll be working. I make my own work schedule so that will be beneficial. I'm sure it'll be tough adjusting to such a demanding school load.
