Well, I am taking my 1st test Nov. 4th *of all days*. I am excited and a little nervous. I am doing Excelsior through Chancellor's and I took the practice exam on the EC website and some stuff on there Chancellor's didn't cover or just barely mentioned. I feel like I am not well prepared but have been trying to study the area's of the test I didn't know or that the study guide hardly went into. Has anyone else taken this test? It seems to heavy hit Schizophrenia and the main differences between cognitive, behavioral, humanist etc theories....any advice??? Any would be appreciated! Thank you!

I used Chancellor's guides as one of my study sources for the EC exams (mostly because I wanted to listen to the audio while commuting), and in my experience, they'll never cover everything that EC has in the exam content guides. I used ONLY a Chancellor's guide for my first nursing exam, and I got a B. Sounds great, but I really like A's. ;) So I purchased some of the recommended textbooks and used them as well, and I got all A's on the remaining exams. There were just too many things missing without the actual textbooks.

The study guides do a fair job of condensing the material, but in doing so, they leave some things out, for sure!!

Good luck to you! Let us know how your exam goes.

I only used Chancellor's for this exam and passed with a "B"

I actually bought a tape player to use in my car so I could listen to the audio -- and let me tell you, it was NOT easy to find a tape player!! LOL

Good Luck to you! I bought one chancellor study guide off Ebay and was very dissapointed with the contents. If I were you I would use it as a supplement and buy some not all of the EC books real cheap on half.com or ebay. I am sure you will do fine! Let us know how things go. We are rooting for you!:heartbeat

I have to agree with that ... I used Chancellor's guides (purchased used from eBay) as just one of my study resources -- I took one test with ONLY the Chancellor's guide, and learned quickly that it wasn't enough for an A.

Good luck! I took the EC Abnormal Psych exam so long ago that it was called an ACT PEP exam at that time. I was a psych major at a traditional school looking for credit by exam. I remember doing well on it just by studying from my friend's abnormal psych textbook. (I did definitions and studied end-of-chapter exercises from that book.)

In my experience from other EC exams, the practice exams can be pretty helpful in pinpointing areas where you need to focus before exam time.

Well, I had to postpone my test. I offered to work an extra 2 days so I worked 5 days straight and I just had no time to study or to rest so I rescheduled but the earliest I could get my test is Dec. 3rd! So I definitly will keep you posted!
