I am taking my boards Friday. I never have the feeling that I am ready. Whenever I study I feel overwhelmed and worried. My classmates
that have passed say how bad (hard) it was. There has been 11 pass so
far. ( not sure how many have taken it). I have been working for weeks on the Q&A saunders nclex-pn cd and also a few others. :selfbonk:
If any one has advice about (before and during) taking my boards or any kind of reassurance I would greatly appreciate it.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amy:rolleyes:

Amy,
you live in my hometown! :) What a small world. Are u originally from JC? Where did u go to school? Elizabethton? Anyway, I live in Orlando now and havent been home in a long time, but hope to visit soon.
Trust me when I say this...no amount of studying could prepare you for everything u are gonna get on the exam. You have prepared yourself wisely by doing practice questions, etc. You also have to realize there are like 15 or 25 pilot questions (questions that dont count against you--they are only to see what various states/schools are teaching students---except u dont know which ones they are).
If u take your time, read each questions slowly and carefully, then read every answer (dont just jump to the answer u think is right first, consider each answer). You can usually easily throw out two of them. Then sit and think about the two answers u have left and pick the best one. Never change an answer unless you are absolutely sure its wrong bc if u dont know for sure, your first instinct is usually right. If u get anxious or tired, ask to take a break, go to the bathroom, wash your face, walk around a bit, stretch, get a drink of water. Then go back and knock it out!
Good luck, you will be fine!

If we were face to face I would grab you and hug you hard for luck... I take my boards this Thursday. Not feeling terribly prepared either but hey, remember, everything we have done for the last year or so was leading up to this final hurdle, just as we have been learning to become good nurses we were also being prepared to past the NCLEX. We have been studying and learning all along its got to count for something in the "end"
Good luck!!
Thank you guys so much for the advice! These last few days I am going to study my rationals for my questions I done and Read throught my NEC Nclex-pn review book to help refresh my memory. This book really breaks it down to the basics on each subject.
Liz75 , Please keep me updated on how it goes, and good luck.:balloons:
Luv4nursing, I did go to school in Elizabethton at Tn. Tech. Center. It was a great school. We had a NCLEX review course, that is the book I am reading over now, the things he said to highlight. I just hope it helps.
Thanks so much guys, I will keep you posted.:)

good luck. hope you pass. my only advice to you is take your time when your taking the test. you have 5 hours to finish it. thats a lot of time. and most of all don't forget to pray because no matter how smart you are, you also need the lord's blessing.

:wink2: Thank you all for the replies I appreciated them. I just got done taking my NCLEX-PN exam. It was very hard some of the questions I had were terrible and some things I have never heard of. I hope that they were the ones that don't count against you. Mine cut off at 85 thank God, I don't think I could have stood any more. I had alot of different subjects, I cant really say that it was alot of one thing. I did have pretty many pharm questions and priority. Well I will probably know something next Friday or around the 15th of Nov. I will keep you all posted. Pray for me.
Amymarie your test cut off at 85 that's good. I took my test today and my computer did not shut off until 210 questions. I don't think I pass everything I studied from Saunders was not even on the test. Honestly it seems like I merely guess on more than half of the test. It was very hard for me. Please to all say a little prayer for Amymarie and I that we both pass.

good luck you two. I keep hearing that there are a lot of priority questions. Anything else you remember from the test you want to mention? Such as, did you get a lot of new format questions (multiple answer, fill in the blank, math, hot spot etc)
BigB, I didn't have any(multiple answer, fill in the blank, math, or hot spot) none of the new stuff. I had a little of everything and things I had never heard of. I hope those were the one that didn't count. Wish I could help you more but I just had 85. Thanks for the wish of good luck.
Amy
SWalls, I hate to hear you had so many. I don't think I would have made it if I had that many, at my 85th question I was praying for it to be over. The questions were so hard, and I was afraid they would only get worse. Did you take the RN exam, b/c I thought the PN exam stop at a maximum of 205? Well anyways I had two people in my class get all 205 and they both passed, so try ( even though I know it is hard ) to be positive. How long do you have to wait? I should know Friday????
