Taking Micro, Phsyio, and speech together?

Published

So it looks as if I'll be taking microbiology, physiology, and speech together. Has anyone ever taken a combination of classes similar to this? How difficult was it? How did you fare? Do you think it's advisable? Let me get your take on this please, I'm a little panicky.

Thanks!

If you have a job or a busy life outside of school I WOULD NOT take the two science courses together.
Science majors do it routinely, even with the upper division stuff... and often toss in some serious math to boot.

I've heard that if you can handle an A in A&P and micro that you can rely on it as an early indicator of your ability to pass the nursing program with at least a C. I took micro and physiology together and our speech is integrated into other courses. I got A's in both classes and have struggled ever since the nursing courses began watching my 4.0 sink like the titanic ramming the iceburg....but true enough i'm passing and only a short hop skip and a leap of faith till I reach the wizard of Oz.

I took A&P II and Microbiology the same semester while working 25 hours a week. It's certainly possible. A&P II and Micro are both based completely on memorization. Be prepared to stay on top of the material. As long as you stay on top of it, it's do-able. Once you start to fall behind, it gets harder and harder to catch up and do well. I got in the habit of spending about a half hour every evening reading over the material and it helped me to keep the material fresh. Good luck, it is certainly do-able. Just keep pushing on! :)

If you can avoid it, I would not take any of the science courses together at all costs.

However, I dont know what school youre at, who your teachers are, if there is a high competition in your area for nursing.... Every single school is different, Im at a CC, and even schools within the district are completely different. The teacher I have now in Physio, if I had him for micro and anatomy I'd probably be able to take them all at the same time. You just never know. I would use ratemyprofessor.com and try to start or look for a thread for your area. I know someone who took 6 classes in one semester including all 3 science pre-reqs and they did amazing. I know someone else who took 2 science pre-reqs in a semester and they almost had a mental breakdown. So..... talk to more people in your area.

Thats a tough one.

ya, in Spring

don't forget to study, you'll be fine. What school are you in?

Pierce community college, but I got into a Winter speech class, so now it's just micro + physio in Spring.

That attitude doesn't speak very well for the state of nursing education.

I was just told that RN classes amount to 3, 5-credit classes. Anyone find this to be true?
