Hi everyone! :)
I take my NCLEX for the first time tomorrow morning and am so scared. I did Kaplan and Hurst to review, but did not watch all of Hursts videos. I watched the ones in the areas I felt weak in and left it at that. Here are my scores:
Kaplan: Trainer 1) 59% 2) 65% 3) 55% 4) 63% 5) 63% 6) 64% I also got a 87% on the prioritizing test.
Hurst Q: 1)60% 2)71% 3)65%
Do you guys think I have a shot at passing? Any tips on SATA questions that helped with the actual exam?
Any tips would be appreciated,
God Bless!

Hey there! Those scores look awesome! I take my NCLEX on Friday and I've pretty much utilized both Kaplan and Hurst just like you! Hopefully we can pull it off and PASS :)
I liked using both resources, I think both reviews have good aspects. How are you doing with your SATA questions? They are currently my nemesis. Fingers crossed we will be RN's by Monday!
I also HATE SATA! But it seems like I'm getting a hang of it. AND YES! Hopefully! Did you get a chance to look through the Hurst 5th day resources by the way? And how did you study meds? I hate those too! Haha
That is awesome that you are getting the hang of the SATA. I glanced over the 5th day resources but did not print anything out. I found a suffix/prefix list for the meds by class and have been going over that. I know I am not going to know near all of them, so I keep trying to tell myself, "Think of the general effect of the medication and then think of the extreme effect". Somehow that seems to help me. What have you been doing to study meds?
That's a great technique! I've been using the meds from the Hurst 5th day materials. Hopefully that'll be enough!

Best of luck! I take mine next week and I'm using Hurst for content; PDA, NCSBN, Kaplan QTrainers for questions. All my friends that have taken it said the meds they got, they didn't know what it was and never heard of it. And they didn't even bother doing Hurst 5th day. Their advice to me with meds, "Pick the weirdest or the killer answer." Positive vibes and a positive attitude! You will pass! [=
Took the exam today, it was brutal!!! Not even so much the material, but more so the stress surrounding the exam. I swore I was not passing and the exam shut off at 220. I had a good amount of alt-format questions and prioritizing. So far I am getting the "good" pop up on Pearsonvue. Fingers crossed!
I actually got a good amount of meds that I have heard of. I didn't necessarily know the answer off the top of my head, but I was happy I heard of them! I agree with what your friends say about picking the killer answer, that is a good strategy. Try not to read into the test if you can avoid it, that stressed me out. You can totally pass this thing, I know you can :)
OH MAN! Thanks so much whyttiger87!!! I'm praying for you!

Do something relaxing tonite; get some sleep, drink water and have a good breakfast that won't give you a carb coma. Answer one question at a time and do NOT keep looking at the number you are on. I've heard the average is 120 questions so I didn't even think about getting wired up until I hit that mark. When it cut off before then I was pleasantly surprised. Read slowly and ask yourself what they are asking. Don't overthink or second guess. Use ABC, Maslows hierarchy and Kaplan decision tree when answering. You'll do fine!

those numbers look good! don't do what i did which is to get my date of the exam mixed up... i thought the date for my exam was a tuesday and it was actually monday. i woke up because my dog kept barking and then realized i was going to be late. my husband rushed me out in a panic because the test site was 2 hours away with traffic and it was 1:30 from till the test. I was so scared but my husband saved the day and by some miracle of the Devine we got there in 45 minutes (no traffic whatsoever). I took the test all stressed but hey, i passed with 75 questions!
i had similar numbers! good luck! :)
