SWIC Nursing Program Summer 17

Published

Hello everyone. Who all applied for the summer 17 program? Do anyone have any information about the DET exam? How is the nursing program at SWIC?

Thank you for the tips, I have been studying English the past couple weeks. I am going to study Math all this week. I downloaded an app called DET complete which was 5.99, but seems pretty helpful with English.

If you're pretty confident that you will get in I say start working on your immunizations to. Some people know exactly where their shot record is and is current, but I noticed on other threads that some people had no clue about their shots. Also enjoy this time doing things you love and spending time with family because once the program starts so much of your time will be dedicated to clinicals and studying.

Hello! I've also applied to the 2017 program at SWIC. I took the DET today, got 2 points in English and 4 in Math. That gives me 20.5 points so I'm feeling pretty good about being accepted! I can't wait to start!

Congrats on your points!!! I'm hoping to get in with 18. Can't wait for April lol

Congrats on being done with the DET and the great points total!

31 days until April!

Mrsmk99 that is awesome congrats on your points! Where does the .5 come from in your 20.5? I saw on previous threads that 1/2 points were given but I wasn't sure how.

Yes, I was curious about the 0.5 point as well. I looked at the application and didn't see anything when I saw it in another forum from last year's applicants.

And yay for the last full month of not knowing! I hope everyone gets in!! Come on April, both the month and the giraffe because my friends are all blowing up facebook (it's almost as bad as politics) :D

Fun fact: you have to wait 900 seconds between posts. That's equal to 15 minutes but I'm not quite sure why they just didn't say that. Maybe 900 seconds doesn't sound as long as the 15 minutes does.

From what I've seen on the application the 0.5 comes from if the applicant is using grades from a high school transcript. If you received an A in chemistry the first semester but a B in chemistry the second semester, they calculate that as 3.5 points. If you had received an A both semesters then you get the full 4 points.

So I got am email from Swic and my heart dropped, but it only said that my LPN license expired. Now I dont know if I can get into the program because it takes IL forever to fix things.

That is right! I used my Chem grade from HS because they allow that this year. Seems crazy to me because I took that in 1994, but they allow it! I'm Taking Chem this semester so I will be ready for a BSN program.
