SWIC Nursing Program Summer 17

Published

Hello everyone. Who all applied for the summer 17 program? Do anyone have any information about the DET exam? How is the nursing program at SWIC?

Boise State University - I need to confirm they will accept SWIC. I've heard good things about their program, it is affordable, and they only have stats as a pre-req. I'd also love live there one day!!!

KateR - My husband is going to try to get extended in some way as well. If not, go Mom power :)

Hello everyone, Ive also applied for the Summer '17 program. I have 18 points total and am also starting to get nervous. I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old so I'm definitely hoping I will be able to juggle it all, while still working part time as a PCT. It's great meeting other people with kids as well. Hoping we all get in!!

Hello everyone I applied for Summer 17 and I am going into the DET with only 15 points. Does anyone have any study tips?! I took the DET in 2013 and failed both parts :( I purchased the study guide yesterday, but if anyone has any other tips I am all ears. I am scheduled to take the exam March 7th. I think that everyone with over 18 points will be just fine from talking with others. I haven't taken Algebra in almost 10 years. I want to get in so badly. Good luck to everyone!

That is a great number to go into the test with Staceychenell! I think you are at an advantage since you have taken the test before as I don't think the format changes at all and you can rest easier knowing what it will be like!

Personally, I think the length of the test was trying and I should have made myself do practice tests that lasted the length of time we are given 2hours45minutes. It is an important test so anxieties are high and add that to the test length, it is easy to become overwhelmed even if the material isn't that difficult. I wish they used a different test as others have more resources and practice tests available but I think any general SAT type tests would be useful!

It seems most people have trouble with the English so I would say focus on making sure your Math is correct. I don't think it is difficult to get all 4 points on the math. Review the book, use Khan Academy, maybe the success center if you need but I believe it is totally doable. English is trickier but if you keep calm I'm sure you can get some points there too!

Best of luck!

This wait is killing me! Why do they make us wait so long? What is everyone doing to help the time go by?

I pass the time by recalculating my points over and over - haha!

Lol, that's funny. I luckily am busy between working and the kids, that the days just fly by.

I had a dream a couple nights ago that it was present time, and I got the letter saying I was an alternate. It felt so real, not cool! Lol

Haha I have a count down on my phone and it feels like it's taking forever. But now, I'm not so excited since I'm having surgery to get my wisdom teeth out on March 31st. Days seems to fly by now that I'm wanting them to slow down.

You have to have surgery? That happened to me. My face was huge! That was over 10 years ago though so hopefully they have a better way to remove them.

They are going by a little fast, but not fast enough. My maternity leave is ending and I go back to work soon so hopefully the time will go even faster.

Yes, two are impacted. I'm having the other two removed even though they haven't started coming in yet because it makes the most sense to do it all at once. Ouch that doesn't sound like fun. Hopefully they send me home with some good stuff. I had four children drug free but this has me stressed out worried.
