Swedish nurse wants help from Florida Nurse(s)

Published

Hello everybody!

I´m a nurse from Stockholm,Sweden wanting to go to Florida to work. I have to do TOEFL and NCLEX before. Then an agency in London is going to help me.But I really would come in contact with other swedish nurses in Florida, it would be nice having somebody to ask about the procedure!

Maybe you can share your experiences about moving to US?

Hi aelsa3,

Welcome to allnurses.com, I will move your post to the Florida Nursing Forum for a more targeted forum for your request and I re-named your title to be more descriptive. Good Luck with your plans.

Hi

You may have better luck putting this in the Florida section of the US states forum and maybe in the international forum. You might even find some good answers in the international forum and maybe do it yourself. You have to be careful with agencies especially if you want to go to one particular state as agencies might not have any work in that state when it is time for you to get out there. Also have a look on the nclex forum and you will find help and advice on passing the exam

guess brian moved you as I was writing :rotfl:

Florida also requires a credentials verification done by CGFNS, as well as the NCLEX exam. You are required to complete the full set of English exams, TOEFL, TWE, and TSE, or the IELTS series in the academic branch with the speaking section.

If you can afford to pay for the exams yourself, you will be much further ahead by direct hire yourself, then using an agency. You can do everything at once, where the agency is only going to do things one step at a time. You are adding a year or two onto your time, especially with the agencies out of the UK.

You will also need the Visa Screen Certificate that is offered also thru CGFNS. This is a mandatory requirement of all foreign-trained nurses wishing to work in the US.

Hope that this helps................ :balloons:

Thank you for your information. It really made me think again. Have you heard anything about agencys that has fooled foreign nurses?

Do you know any place in Florida that direct wants to hire a nurse, after i´ve done the tests? I also want my husband to join me to Florida, since he speaks spanish fluent!

Now i´m working in a nursing home with elderly patients.

Love Anna.
