I am a large guy....Big enough to lose weight but that requires time, effort, energy, and money - none of which I have. That said, I sweat alot. I like it to be cool - 70 is fine with me. For some reason my coworkers like it at 100 with jackets and sweaters. They turn up the thermostat to 85....Not good. Last thing I need when I am working is to sweat buckets, run all over the unit and wear those hideous ISO gowns on top of being a sweaty fatcrack.
I have my own fan i brought in and that helps alot....I just do not see how anyone can be cold when its 90 outside and 75 inside....
Perhaps sitting in one place for extended periods may get someone cold, but I would not know cause I am on the go.
i don't appreciate either the sarcasm or the attitude behind this type of remark! my husband has had reynaud's since infancy and people afflicted with this condition aren't merely making your life difficult for their own personal sense of enjoyment!! i like it on the cool side and he needs it warmer but we've always made it work. reynaud's makes it difficult, if not downright impossible to get enough life insurance, kept him out of the service after four years of rotc, means he wears silk longjohns beginning some years as early as october, risks frostbite despite double gloves and hunting socks, gets stared at when he turns dull blue then deep purple then blanches to wrinkled white because he's a kind of cold we can never imagine. i realize you have a problem that requires some compromise but, please, drop the sarcasm... :angryfire:flmngmd:

i don't know about you, but i have the notorious nurse's dark/gallows humor.
and admittedly, that particular post made me more than smile (not quite a laugh...kind of like a 'guffaw').
that's why many of us, keep it amongst ourselves.
i'm sorry the joke offended you.
believe me, it wasn't meant to be personal, that's for sure.
sounds like you and hubby make a great team.:balloons:
leslie
leslie,
believe it or not, i have that same gallows warped sideways sense of humor. i just was offended by the raynaud's remark in the same way that i've been when someone has told me i'm faking a seizure or seizures because i do not lose consciousness, the conversational thread, or anything else. with the one type, it's a muscle contraction and/or twitch and with another, it's head pain similar to a migraine, and with the third, i have abdominal symptoms, gi tract problems and get pale and clammy feeling. typical seizures? no, but seizures they are. oh, and most of my seizures do not show up on an eeg tracing.
same basic thing with reynaud's. many people, including some in the medical field do not take reynaud's patients seriously -- probably because most are women.

I'm a coldie. As long as I'm moving, I'm fine, but as soon as I stop, like when I eat dinner in the break room or sit down to chart, I get cold fast. Personally, I think thermostats should be set at a median temperature, in the spirit of compromise. Those that are hot can remove a layer, and those that are cold can add a layer. Of course, I'm talking about shared workspaces and classrooms. Patient rooms should be kept comfortable for the patient.
