SW Boces Entrance Exam

Published

Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!

Hey again!!!

Thanks for the congrats!

2BLPN - The $900 is due within 2 weeks of receiving the acceptance letter, so financial aid won't cover that. As for the $800, that's due August 30th (1 week before class starts), so I'm *assuming* that financial aid should be done by then, and should cover the $800...but I have no idea. It doesn't say anything about financial aid on the letter, except for the woman's info who you should speak to. I filled my FAFSA out by myself online the night that I received the letter.

Dianedc123 - I got my call for the interview about 2 - 2.5 weeks AFTER receiving my scores in the mail.

O ok. i did my financial aid about 2 months ago. so i think the only thing left is for the school to pull it up.

Nice! I did mine Saturday night and already got it in email just now!

OMG!!! I am so happy for you guys. I can't believe it. I sat here beating myself up over my scores. I haven't researched another school cause I felt like that was the one perfect for me. I will.

CONGRATS.... to all those accepted....

Dianedc- Be patient. I'm sure your ok. I did the worst.....:uhoh3:

after tryin to be patient for so long. i got eager today and decided to call up Boces. they lady did transfer me and i got a voicemail so i decided to go ahead and leave a message inquiring when phone calls would be made for interviews. She actually returned my called and said they have not made phone calls yet but since i called they would just go ahead and schedule me. so she gave me the choice of what day i want to come in. so my interview is friday morning at 9:30 am:D...

so i advise u to call. however they may be busy for the remainder of the afternoon because tonight is the graduation.

2BLPN- awesome!! i should prob wait for my (resent) scores before i call tho lol....she just scheduled you on the spot? im guessing she checked ur scores first right? lol....if i get above 50 on all then ill call :)

i got my scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

54/79/58....total 82!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DIANEDC im so happy for you!!!! you will be getting a call :)!!

2BLPN.... Good for you!! Good luck with your interview .. I'm sure you'll be fine!

nt-- thanks alot!!!

diane- congrats!!!! yay.. u'll def get a call. but it doesnt hurt to call also. im sure she looked me up b/c she said she was planning on callin me anyway. but i figure they were just preoccupied with grad prep.

I feel like ive know u ladies for a long time. hopefully we can all c each other in one class in september. ;)

Yeah Diane, u should call NOW!! lol.

& yes 2BLPN, it does feel like we've known each other for so long.. we've all been helping each other out from before the exam... until now. hopefully we will be classmates & be study buddies!!

2BLPN - Congrats and good luck on your interview!

DianeDC123 - Congrats!!! Hopefully you'll get an interview soon! I'd definitely call today. LOL

Also, for anyone applying for financial aid, I just found out some info. You should apply for your FAFSA as soon as possible, either with help from Ms. Auguste, or by yourself online. BUT, we will not be applying for the actual loans until the 1st day of orientation. Apparently, Ms. Auguste is going to be doing a whole "financial aid workshop" and letting those who wish to, apply. I thought that was weird because of the 3 colleges I've attended, you always had to apply for your loans wayyyyy in advance. But I guess since we have to give a $900 deposit, which is technically the 1st tuition payment, they're not concerned about having the money right away? LOL. So, for those who asked, you definitely have to come up with the $900 (deposit/1st tuition payment) and the $800 (book/supply fee) on your own. The $800 is due on the 1st day of orientation from what I gather from the letter, so there's no way financial aid could cover that if we haven't applied for the loans yet! LOL. Is anyone else as ridiculously excited as I am to start? I wish we were starting next week...

Oh and by the way, funny story. Yesterday, I went to pay my deposit at the school, and as I'm leaving, the secretary says to me, "Enjoy your summer....you're gunna need it." Hahahahha. So maybe it's a good thing we don't start next week!
