SW Boces Entrance Exam

Published

Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!

Hey Stephanie, I'm also very excited to start... I can't wait. September feels so far away from now. But yes, I'm sure we'll need our summer to relax because we won't be doing much of that when school starts! It will all be worth it though :)... What do we do during those 4 days of orientation?

lol. they did say that day program was pretty intense..good thing i have a vacay planned for a few days in august. Miami and Bahamas gna be heaven. because the week after i come back is orientation..

i'm going to call first thing tmrw!! i dont really understand all this financial aid stuff- my parents did it for me for college lol. im not going to worry about it until my interview i guess. im sad you are all doing the day program- i can only do night! :(

2BLPN, I have a vaca planned too, for July.... I'm going to Cancun :)

Dianedc, that's okay, we will all still keep in touch and help each other out when we need it throughout the program! Keep me posted about your interview.

I have no idea what we'll be doing for 4 days of orientation...LOL. When I went to college, we had orientation for like 3 hours. I was told by BOCES that the night classes only have orientation 1 time for 4 hours.

You guys are soooo lucky to be going on vacation! My mom is moving to Naples, FL in about 1 month, and as soon as she does, we're going down to stay there and go to Disney & Universal for a few days. She better move before school starts! Hahaha.

Yeah seriously! LOL. But at least its something.. its like a mini vacation and Florida has beautiful weather. Do as much as you can before school starts because when school starts, our social lives are over!

So I guess we'll be meeting on August 30th! I can't even tell you how excited I am.... in one year from now, we will be LPNs !!!

I know!!! My husband keeps calling me a dork because it's all I talk about. Hahaha. He said he's never seen someone so excited for school. I can't wait! I feel like I've been waiting for this forever...

The only thing I'm worried about right now is that my husband is currently jobless & looking for a job.... if he doesn't find one soon, then i'm not sure what to do. I was planning on paying for school out of pocket, but I wouldn't be able to do it while working part-time. I can't take out a loan or get financial aid because I owe WCC money and I have a loan with them as well. I'm in a horrible situation :(

diane- did u call????

nttolpn - yeah i hear you! my husband works full time, but doesn't make enough to cover my half of rent and bills (suckssss), so i'm selling my car, which was my dream car, just so i can cover my half of expenses for the 10 months. hopefully he'll get a new job sometime soon, he's been looking for awhile because he's extremely underpaid for what he does, and he's been at the company for 5 years! i'll be paying school with loans. did you default on your loans, or do you just owe money on them? i have old school loans that i have never once paid, and i've been out of school for a long time, but, everytime they send me a bill, i get the loan deferred, which means they don't send me another bill for about 1 year or so. i do it every year. you should call financial aid and just speak to her about your situation. she's super nice and i spoke to her yesterday and she answered all my questions.

my issue right now is not loans and etc.. i plan to resign my job and ill have all the help in finances that i need from my bf for the whole time im in school. plus im gettin full financial aid which is about 1/2 the tuition and grants.. but the only worries i have is this initial $1700.00.. the $900 dwn and $800 @ orientation.

2BLPN - I know, that's something they could have allowed to be covered by financial aid. Luckily, my car will be paying those off.
