Hi everyone!! I applied to Southern Westchester Boces and I am scheduled to take my entrance exam next Thursday. I am looking for anyone who has attended or has recently been accepted to the school. Or even anyone who knows anything about the test and scores needed in order to get accepted. I'm getting very nervous about the exam and any advice would be appreciated. I am curious to know how students are accepted - what scores are they looking for? Thank you!
Thank you guys...still trying to stay positive. its just so frustrating not to have received anything yet...
there really are plenty of programs out there so dont worry! research all the BOCES. Im just stressed b/c i really needed to start in the fall in order to advance at my job. if i dont get into this night program in the fall i dont know whats going to happen...
2BLPN- when i called today, they said they just started reviewing the scores from 5/27...making it sound like they havent started making calls yet...i was just asking to dbl check! please let us know...if u get a call before i get my scores i can stop running home to check the mail lol
SNYA grant could help pay. They were awarded funding for 2010-2011 for those who qualify. They have sponsored SW BOCES students in the past and can do so again...for NYC, LI and Westchester residents. The info is online at www.snya.org
Hey everyone!!
This is my first time posting to this thread...
I took my entrance exam for SW BOCES on May 13th and got my scores 1 week later. Scores were 54, 51, 45 with an overall of 61. I got a call for an interview about 2 weeks later or so. Believe it or no, I pretty much harrassed the secretary! Hahahah! I called a million times saying, "I got my scores, but no call...will I be getting a call?!" I probably sounded like a nutcase.
I had my interview last Tuesday, June 8th & was told that I'd receive a letter with a decison within 10 business days. I received my acceptance letter yesterday! So in reality, I found out within 4 days! Trust me, for those 4 days, I drove my mom and my husband crazy!
The letter also states that you need to pay a $900 non-refundable deposit WITHIN 2 WEEKS of receiving the acceptence letter. It is technically considered the first tuition payment.
Orientation is Monday, August 30th - Thursday, September 2nd from 8:30am-2:30pm (for the day program). An additional $800 is due at orientation for books & supplies. Classes start Tuesday, September 7th. I will be doing the full time, day program.
Good luck and I hope to see you all in class!!!!

Thanks Destine. I'm in Brooklyn, let me know whats out there.
Dianedc- Yes, exactly, I got my scores and next day rejection. I understand. Look at all those who scored higher. That 32 really missed me up. Lesson learned. Time to find an alternative. I don't understand why your scores are not in. Theirs mail on Sat so let's see.
