Surviving and PASSING A&P

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm finishing up pre-reqs for the nursing program and one of the classes I have left is Bio 141 (A&P):crying2:

I took the class last semester as hyrbrid (half online half in class) and was lost :uhoh3:! So this semester I am taking it fully in class! Could someone PLEASE give me some study tips, help books, words of encouragement or just all around HELP for passing this class and getting thru it without quitting.

Thanks! :)

I just got my textbook today! I wish I could get a hold to our syllabus. I would like to get a head start, but our instructor is not giving us access to it until the 23rd, which is our first day. I'm going insane. :uhoh3: I've cracked open the book and decided to make an outline and a few flash cards dealing with the first chapter! I suppose I'll know more about our route of the semester next Tuesday! I wish everyone luck, so wish me luck! I'm going to need it! I'm striving for an A in this class!

i take A & P 2 this semester.....got an A on 1....i studied ALOT....used several websites...bought a skeleton and a skull so i didnt have to fight for it at the science center....and a coloring book....goodluck you can do it!!

Thanks! Congrats on the A in I and I hope you do well in II as well! Good luck! :) I'm really anxious! For my birthday I bought coloring books, got the Kaplan Medical's A&P Flash Cards, and some other things. I'm really hoping to do well! I've always had an interest for the human body. I took Anatomy in high school, loved it! I still remember a lot of the bones from that class. I had an amazing teacher. I hope I've lucked out this time as well, with a great instructor!

I'm taking both A&P classes, accelerated, online this semester. Eeeek. I'm a little nervous. I keep checking online to see if they instructor has posted the syllabus yet so I know what to get started on. I think if you're dedicated, you'll be just fine. I'm personally going to try it for the first week, and if I can't keep up, switch to the longer 2 semester classes. I really want to knock them out, but not at the expense of my grades and understanding. I think as long as you're dedicated, you'll do fine. GL!

I agree with all of the tips on here. I found using a flashcard app on my phone very useful. I used an app called flashcard touch. You can even add pictures from your phone to your flash cards! You can connect the app with quizlet, which is a good website to use as well, and make the flash cards online and send them to your phone. There is also a website called purpose games, where you can label and quiz yourself with pictures. Another good tip that I have is using outside, trust-worthy sources. When I realized that I needed a bit of extra help, I googled it. You can find whatever you are looking for by typing it in the search engine and typing "site:edu", for example "blood vessels site:edu" and you should find some good websites that way. I also googled different pictures and charts to go along with the body systems as well. Hope this helps and good luck! :)

I haven't taken any A&P classes yet but I have found this website somewhere here on allnurses.com it seems like a really good website!!

Good Luck to you!

All I can say is - pay attention, don't mess around in class, don't miss class, use flashcards for anything you feel you don't have a grasp on, and read through your notes. If your instructor records their lectures then listening to them again is always a plus. Also, just try not to fall behind in the class because that can happen. If you're truly determined and want this then you can absolutely do it! Just stay focused and you will survive. I was very nervous when I went into A&P I because it was made out to be so 'intimidating' and I also have 2 small kids who I was at home full-time with when I wasn't at school. I know if I can do it then you can! I am now going into A&P II this Fall. Yay for us! :)
