I'm interested to know if you're doing QIS as well. We are not, still the old subjective get you if they want survey... This will be my first as a DON, 5th as a manager.. Ugh..

Yes QIS. My best advice.....keep your QI percentage below state and national and your pretty golden.

Justfinished my 2nd survey as a DON. We got one health and 2 life safety. Thehealth was D severity.
Ok so made it through first survey as DON, what a difference. We are still under traditional survey and man, they were in for four days, hit us hard! We got too many tags lol but all level 2 and no quality of life. I'm satisfied, my team rocked even though nerves got one of my girls and she messed up a little, we did fine. Of course we were hit on antipsychotic usage but I have a high amount of schizophrenia, bipolar, conduct, delusional, and psychotic disorders. I can breathe again! Got hit on isolation too, we were being too strict...

mine just completed last Thurs, and I was pulled out of retirement July 1st, as DON in this LTC/SNF ! so I had not a lot of time, they were very genourous, only two minor , where cnas nerves under states observation messed up on technique......, already completed POC, just waiting on formal forms so i can submit.... i can not beleive if not for that it would have been perfect.....whew......my advice work your 802, keep it dynamic, focus on those QIs care plan and try to reduce them, increase documentation quality....... of course if correct technique, as in handwashing etc always followed in ones daily practice, and sloppy shortcuts not done, ones nerves would probably not mess up on correct technique, my cna forgot to wash her hands before incont care....she did afterwards, but not before.....ooooooops
