Hi everyone, I am an LPN and am seriously thinking about returning to get my RN.
I have to admit, IV's creep me out a bit.
I would like to take a little survey here and ask one question....
How difficult is it to Learn IV insertion?
thanks !
I am hoping the feedback I get will help lessen my fear.

It is a skill like any other you learn in nursing school. With that skill, you will only get as good as you will allow yourself to get. It is a skill that needs practice.. When I first started my nursing career as as many new grads I was scared of IV starts from lack of practice. I was hired to a renal floor and as anyone that knows the renal population; they have very bad veins. With in 6 months, I was hitting more than I was missing. Now in the ICU, I can get an IV in just about anyone. Even the 4plus pitting edema pts. Now, I still have bad days like anyone but I hit more than I miss, and thats whats important..

It is all practice! The more you do, the better you will become!
