What is your Allnurses.com surfing style? I tend to be systematic about everything. First I check my favorite areas, then the new posts. Seems to be snowballing, though, soon I'm going to be checking every section! How often do you post? Everytime regardless, only when you have something profound to say, only when in the mood, rarely, Never?
I have allnurses.com/forums/index.php saved in favorites...takes me to the forums page and lets me click in a veiw new posts link. The upside is it gives you every thread with a new post since you last logged in...The down side of it is gives you every thread with a new post since you last logged in. That sounds confusing...what I am trying to say is... if you are away for a while and there are beau coup posts and you don't get a chance to read them all before you close, when you come back it is reset...up side is when you have read your way through, if you hit "home" and refresh your browser it updates.
I also keep 1-4 other copies of IE running, surfing multiple other (non-Nursing) sites at the same time...in addition to AIM and ICQ.

FREE yourself from the opressive bonds of tyranny! Flee the over priced, slow, treachery that is AOL...
DITTO!!!
The best (and only) way to free your self from the cult named AOL is to STOP the auto charge on your bank or credit card...several months later they will threaten to cancel your service...ignore them...several months later when they do finally cut you off sign up with a different carrier...we like teleport, have had them for 4 years and we have had no problems with the buy out that merged teleport/earthlink/mindspring/onemain over the past 1 1/2 years.

That's the way to do it! If you just call AOL, they cancel your service, but you'll keep getting charged for months! Call all you want, and they take care of it, and 3 1/2 weeks later there's that credit card charge again!
That's how you beat them at their own game!

Then I go to the main page and see whats new. If the thread is something I want to follow I'll subscribe to that thread too.
Then I'll go to the general discussion just to see if there is anything I've forgotton about.
When I'm not sitting here (cooking dinner etc...) I'll just wait for the e-mails to roll in and that keeps me in touch with my main threads.
ok, ok...I'm addicted!!

The only good thing about AOL is that they make damn good frisbees.
