Sure way to pass the nclex

Published

Hello allnurses.com my name is Carlton and i promised myself that once i passed the dreadful NCLEX, I would share with the community the way that i passed. It was a long journey for me after graduation preparing for the NCLEX. I graduated from a great school in May 2014. We were guided to take the Kaplan course to prepare for the NCLEX examination. At first, i didnt really take the Kaplan course very serious as i was enjoying my time after graduation. Ill say i looked at the material for about 2 weeks tops before i took my exam. My result of this was a complete fail. I failed the NCLEX on my first attempt with 75 questions. I was so disappointed in myself. Anyway to make a long story short i failed it again for the second time and said to myself, there has to be something that i can do to pass this exam. Here is a list of what i did in order to finally pass this test.

KAPLAN, KAPLAN, KAPLAN (my advice to everyone is to study Kaplan and thats it.)

I went over the content material on every section that they offer. Kaplan has a content section, and in each content area eg.cardiac, they have a 30 question test.I did each and every content area section and read each rationale before i did anything.

Next, i went under the NCLEX prep tab to the review questions tab. In this section, the director of KAPLAN, Barara Irwin goes over questions in each of the 8 sections that will be on the exam. For example, there is a section called "Management of Care," and in that section she goes over about 60 questions. What she does is she goes over the questions, and literally teaches you how to answer NCLEX questons. This was by far the best thing about preparing for the NCLEX.

After i watched a video on one section, for example "Management of Care," I would then go to the qbank and only choose Management of Care questions and apply what i leared from the videos. I would do this for every section. I would watch the video, then do only questions from the section that i watched the video.

After i completed the entire qbank on each section, i then did the question trainers. Let me tell you, from doing the combination of content area tests, videos, and doing only one section at a time from the qbank, my scores on the question trainers went up tremendoulsy. I felt confident for every single question trainer exam. They say that if you get a 65% or higher on the last two qtrainers, then you will be ready for the NCLEX. I went from getting between 45-55% on all of my qtrainers, to getting between 80-90% on all of my qtrainers.

Belive me, i lost hope after failing the NCLEX two times, but i can almost guarentee you that if you follow the steps that i presented, and really apply yourself when answering these questions, then i can almost guarentee that you will pass this exam.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS, I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE PASS!!!

You do realize that not everyone studies and retains information in the same way? Not sure you should be promising to "almost guarantee" that someone else will pass (whatever that means). Also keep in mind that your first 2 attempts at the NCLEX might have helped you narrow your focus/method of study in order to be successful.

However, congratulations on your successful test-taking! I'm glad you found a system that worked for you.
