Hello everyone,
I realize when I had to write my nursing exam how much pressure I experienced about the whole thing. I wrote mine in June 2010 and passed in first attempt but still remember when I walked out the exam, I was not sure what would be the result.
The purpose of this thread is supporting those nursing students who are planning to write their CRNE in upcoming June. Students, please feel free to share your concerns and questions. Nurses please support those students with tips for study.
Just couple of reminders before we get started:
1. Please do not discuss specific questions or any content tested in CRNE.
2. Please read other threads for more information as well. Other threads give you valuable information and be smart and take them into your advantage.
3. Please stay on topic.
4. Please use proper grammar and spelling.
Thank you all.
Exactly! Don't look for anything in the answers that isn't in the question. You can't "assume facts not in evidence" as they say on the lawyer shows. If the question had said "beta blocker" instead of diuretic, then you'd have chosen the apical pulse response.
As an aside, both my spouse and son are taking meds for HTN; neither of them measure their BP even on a daily basis. It's important intially to ensure that the treatment is effective and not TOO effective, but once everything stabilizes there's no need for more than spot checks.
Hello everyone,
I wrote my exam in feb 2011. I have mosby's guide book and mosby's practice questions book. It has more than 300 M.C questions. I also have CNA guide book. My e-mail is [email protected]...
I just started studying for my CRNE in June.. I bought Mosby's Comprehensive Review for the Canadian RN Exam.
I'm not sure about the rest of you, but my University had a mock CRNE for our 4th year classes. They never done it before but they decided to break up the classes so we had our independenty study and we also had the mock CRNE. Now. I know we don't normally get our marks in the mail, it's either a pass or fail, but I did relatively well on it with 85%. Our profs told us what we did would be pretty much like the CRNE.. I'm thinking the reason why they decided to give us a mock CRNE was because they changed how the exam will be written for those writing in 2011. Normally, I think you had 400 questions? This time we had 200.
Anyway, it helped. I plan on writing my NCLEX exam soon after in either the end of July or August (obviously I need my 'pass' first) with another month and a week or so of studying for the NCLEX. I live near the US boarder, roughly 10 minutes from the tunnel/bridge, so odds of getting a job in the states are better for a Canadian BScN nurse there than it is here where I live.
Good luck to everyone.

Welcome to thread and I hope the preparation for exam is going well.
At the beginning of this thread there's a list of recommendations for study sources. Make sure you will go through that as I found it very useful when wrote my CRNE last year.
The CRNE formate was actually changed last year and those who wrote the exam in June 2010, I believe got the new formate. For that reason, I really recommend you take a look at new guidebook published by CNA in 2010 as Mosby and out resources out there based on old version of exam, although they are helpful.
Good luck and let us know if you needed any help.
Also keep in mind that aside from all the study guides which are very helpful, you should still actually study. Many of us used nursing textbooks from the CNA guide ref list. In order to feel confident and finish the exam, you really need to have a good base knowledge. None of those questions will be on the exam, so don't try to memorize. And when in doubt, remember your ABCs and the nursing process.

The only class of medication specifically mentioned in the stem was the diuretic. You'd be guessing about any of the other possible meds he could be Rx'd for hypertension.
