Apart from the things listed as requirements for school. What Other supplies did you purchase for nursing school?

Specializes in Operating Room.

I hadn't heard of Zagg prior. Haha, I actually just read a review about Zagg the other day!

on the floors it's hard to find one so many RNs have one of their own. have you started clinicals yet? if not, you would not understand.[/quote']

I'm almost finished with nursing school, I guess we don't have that problem though, haha. They are on every dynamap and we have independent ones in the utility room. That stinks, were you required to buy one?

Binders!!! I have sooooooo many. I also create color coded study sheets and drug cards. So markers and index cards as well.

Oh my goodness...I have taken my clinical sites for granted....could not image doing clinicals in a hospital that didn't have dynamap in each patients room....I would be a fish out of water

Really? You would not make it in my school, most instructors do not allow us to use the dynamap! In fact I don't even know how to use one (although I suspect I could figure it out) but I can take a manual BP in no time flat, along with resp, and pulse.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I kinda wish our school made us do that. The only manual BPs I've taken were in my psych rotation, because I CHOSE to purchase a set of BP cuffs and offered them to patients. I did them all the time in the Navy, but I doubt if many of my classmates can do them (or at least, do them well).

We're pretty lucky on the units I've been in- we have plenty of Dynamaps. They're not in every room, but there are several in the utility closet.

My instructor was the same. I was required to do everything manually. I also bought a thermometer and pulse ox ($20 via amazon). Additionally, I bought toner for my laser printer (holy cow do we print a ton!), an iPad, and a million index cards. I would wait and see what you end up needing though....I bought so much stuff I will never use before classes started! The stuff I listed is the stuff I actually used. Good luck!

I have a pulse ox, but only because we used it for our things we did for SNA. We attended events almost weekly and it always came in handy (there were a few of us that purchased them and we all shared). But now, I dunno where it is*L*

But, I loved my hard plastic clipboard thingy! The ones that open, you can put all your papers, extra pens, penlight, stuff like that. A good backpack too.
