Supplies for CNA Class?

Published

I plan to soon start a CNA class. I am just waiting to see if I get the position, but based on my interview I believe that it is a go. I know I have to supply my own scrubs. I have heard that you need a watch with a second hand for most programs. Will I need my own stethoscope? What other items will I likely need? Thanks for your insight!

Does anyone know what kind of scrubs Ivy Tech in Ind. requires? I've been looking online and there are some really cute scrubs out there, but I am guessing solid colors will be required for class :(

I can't wait to start regardless of what kind of scrubs I need!

I didn't take the CNA class at Ivy Tech, but I have had some of the students with me on the floor while they did their clinicals.

For the class, all of the Ivy Tech students (in Muncie at least....it might be different by city but I'm not sure) had to wear white scrubs and shoes. So, I'd save buying cute scrubs until you finish and start working. :)

I am a CNA currently and when i went into the class i didnt need a stethoscope.. I still do not need a stethoscope because we do not do anything that requires to listen to listen to heart beats nor blood pressures

For my CNA class/course, a gait belt was REQUIRED. In clinicals (40 hours) , I used it ONE TIME. Working as a nurse aide, I use it many times a day. (Not yet a CNA--can't take state test until 6 weeks after CNA course end.)

As a paramedic, am used to carrying my own stethoscope. RARELY needed in clinicals. NOT needed in current work as a nurse aide. (I work w/e's--we don't do V.S. much on w/e's, in LTC.)

Notebook of some sort, & a pen. That's about it.

Bonne chance!

I needed: scrubs, a watch with a second hand, a stethoscope, and pen for clinical. White shoes, too. For class, nothing in particular except something to write with...if I remember correctly. :) Hope you make it in!

some classes will actually supply u with one (cheap one) some wont, either way I think its well worth your time and money to invest in your own one. a watch is a important thing and most programs will say u need to have one, I would buy one just to have an excuse to wear one, I bought a 65 dollar watch but it weights like 1 pounds(not to much) well your going to need a pen and small notebook to take notes(vital signs, intake and output, etc) transfer belt depending what is your policy that your going do your rotations in, myself I bought myself a scrub jacket for somewhere to keep my stethoscope in, even though I was sweating like a pig up stairs where all the dementia residents are. but good luck with with what you got
