Hey guys,

Started my application for Downstate's WHNP for Fall 2023 start. Thought I'd start this thread for all interested and/or applying. I'm in between excitement and anxiety! ? All questions welcome! Any past/current students with advice/opinions? Good luck everyone!

Hi!

I also applied for the fall entry to Downstate! I know it'd early. Deadline isn't until February. So nervous and the wait will be pure torture! Do you know anyone in the program now? Trying to get as much information as I can. Good luck to you!! ?

Hey!

Yes! Me too. Seems like forever! I do know a few people that just started the WHNP 2022 cohort. I love that the program starts off completely online, one day a week which really works for my work-home-life balance. I also know someone in the DNP program but I haven't asked much questions about it since I'm just doing the NP route right now. There was a thread that stated those who applied in September started hearing back in January and interviewed in Feb. so I guess we will just have to wait until then. Good luck to you as well!

Hi Im trying to apply for the 2023 cohort as well. But I don't see a "post baccalaureate" program to start the application - wondering if this is how you guys applied or did you select a different link. I cant use the post masters since I don't have a masters yet.  I spoke to someone from the 2022 cohort and was told there should be a link for post baccalaureate. Wondering if I should just call the school

Hi JMoRN!

When I applied, there was a "post baccalaureate APRN" option and within the application is asked if I wanted to apply to the MS only, DNP only or both. I did get an email last week stating that due to Downstate's committement to transition all entry-level nurse practitioner (NP) education to the DNP degree by 2025 that in Fall 2023, the CON will no longer offer the MS pathway to the NP in Women’s Health but will offer the post-baccalaureate entry to the DNP degree. So this might have something to do with why you don't have the option on the homepage. Perhaps they are working on getting a BS-DNP application going. If you do call and find out any information, please keep us posted! And good luck!

Hi I heard back from the school and they no longer offer the MS degree its now a DNP program. So they did send me a link to the program that I should apply to and it should be BSN to DNP (FNP or WHNP concentration). Im hoping they update the website to offer the correct program application.

Okay great! Glad you got a response. And thank you for the update. Sucks this is the only option now as there weren't many WHNP-MS programs in New York to begin with. And it also means higher tuition. Welp! It is what it is. Thanks again. Have a great weekend!

Hey! Were you able to apply to the program yet? I've been emailing admissions and they've been no help. Telling me that the program is listed there to apply to when it isn't :(. They said it should be under post bac APRN, I don’t see anything there. Did they give you any other info about the applications?

Hi I emailed them on Friday night asking if they are updating the site since there’s no place to apply for this new program. Today they responded and told me they are working on the site and the program should become available today or tomorrow. I checked recently and nothing has been updated. They told me to contact them again if I don’t see it. I’m thinking of giving them until Thursday and then emailing again if I don’t see it available.

Thanks so much for the info! I hope they add it soon, I still don't see it as of yet but I'll be on the lookout.

Mine is showing up as "Faculty Reviewer Assigned." Has anyone received acceptance yet? The waiting is killing me. ?
