Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2021. Being that the application period just opened, I’m sure we can all benefit from sharing information in regards to the process.
Best of luck to those applying!

They don't. I'm currently in the Downstate ABSN program and I emailed so many people asking about this but they just told me the handbook was no longer applicable (eyeroll). However, I took patho at BMCC the semester before I started Downstate and it was helpful to have the foundations of the class. I actually found BMCC's class went way more in depth than at Downstate so it wouldn't be a *total* waste.
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back!
Hi everyone! Brand new here, and kinda can't believe I made it this far and applied, but I wanted to drop in and share in the excitement/anxiety while we wait for answers. I applied this week with 2 pre-reqs still in progress but am crossing my fingers I get in. I'm 31, live in Brooklyn, and am hoping to change careers finally into the nursing field. I've got volunteer experience in a hospital and am in school right now having just completed microbio and anatomy/physiology 1. Still working on Chemistry and A&P 2. My previous bachelor's is in Anthropology, and I'm currently a customer service manager at my company in Manhattan where I've been for about 6 years now (yeah, I'm definitely making a big change, LOL) and if it matters my stats are:
science GPA: 4.0
pre-req GPA: 3.6
overall GPA: 3.13 (blah, stupid undergrad years - I was working 40 hours a week during school and that wasn't so easy, but I explained it a little in my statements.)
oh, and my TEAS scores were actually higher than I expected, I got an 89.3 overall with a 100 in math and 85 in science and reading. Always dreamt of working in healthcare, so I sincerely hope there's a chance I get in and maybe even. get to meet some of you fine folks in the accepted class. We'll see! Good luck everybody!
