Hi everyone,

I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2021. Being that the application period just opened, I’m sure we can all benefit from sharing information in regards to the process.

They do! They did them during last year’s application cycle and mentioned it during the zoom open house. But I guess since they’re so delayed this year they might not be doing them at all.

Wow! Decisions, but it doesn't seem like anyone has received a call. I would think at least a few here on the forum would have gotten a call.

I’m thinking maybe they aren’t doing interviews this year..Pace normally does interviews but they didn’t do them this admissions cycle so maybe downstate is doing the same

I did! This is what they told me on 1/28:

“Your file is under review by the program currently-if you are sleected by the program for an interview they will contact you directly. Once a decision is rendered by the College of Nursing, you will be contacted by email regarding the decision.”

That could have changed though. They changed the deadline last minute so it wouldn't surprise me if they decided not to do interviews last minute

it's so strange that no one on this forum has gotten a call for an interview..I wonder if that was just some sort of automated reply?

I think they’re going to do interviews because it’s still listed on their website. they changed the due date for applications there so if they weren’t conducting any, maybe that would’ve changed as well. I’m glad they gave us an updated time frame though. it was getting very frustrating

Hey y'all, 

I am curious for your opinion on my TEAS score. I took the TEAS in January and I received an 85 overall: 93 on Math, 89 on Reading, 85 on Science but a low score on the English section (below 70 percent). English was the one section I did not study for and there is no minimum requirement listed on the downstate website. Should I retake it? Thoughts?

I would appreciate any advice. thanks

Hi, your score is very similar to mine. I got a 75 on english. I’m not retaking it because they don’t look at english. When you put the scores into the application as well, they don’t ask you to cite your english score

Thank you for your reply, I wasn’t sure if they looked at the English section.

I got like a 68 on english LOL I did not retake it. My science, math, and reading were similar to your grades
