Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! I am sort of an outsider since I will be applying to SUNY Downstate for summer 2018! However, I have a question if anyone willing to spend a minute to respond. On their website for admissions' prerequisites they list a bunch of needed courses, and sociology/anthropology 6 credits is one of them. I do have most and will finish the rest of the courses. However, I do not have sociology. Do you think it can be substituted by a course in psychology? I would just hate to take sociology, yet another course I may not need. Thank you all!

I don't think it could be substituted by psychology since there are other psychology requirements, but if you email admissions I'm sure they could answer with certainty

They are super picky on that sociology requirement. I also applied to the summer 2017 ABSN, but they told me that a sociology elective that I took would not suffice. I registered to take Sociology 101 this winter semester at KBCC--bummer!

Hello,

I was also accepted for the upcoming Summer 2017 class. Congratulations to those of you who are accepted and best of luck! :)

Im wondering if anyone has any idea as to the potential weekly schedules that we can be expecting such as start and finish times. I have already given my notice of resignation at work and am committing the time to the program however it would be nice to know what to get prepared for in terms of a schedule. Any information would be great!

Also, has anyone started the process of submitting all paper work required such as medical clearance forms, submitting official transcripts, background check etc?

Thanks!

Congrats martinczer! From previous threads the schedule is 4 to 5 days a week from 9 am to as early as 2 pm or as late as 8 pm. Clinicals are 12 hours I believe. Clinicals will be tricky for me with school aged kids (grade 1, 2, and 7) so I will have to figure something out. I won't give notice to my job until maybe a month before. So far I paid deposit, ordered transcripts and I will do citizenship this week. Medical will have to wait until my annual physical around February or March. Background check not due until April so I will complete that way before deadline.

I believe what @thecareerchanger posted is the intensive summer schedule. The rest of the year is much more accommodating as it's only 1 day of class and 1 day of clinical per week.

Have we started a FB group yet?

Sorry, I think I turned off message alerts. I applied really early - October 4th. Wanted to get it out of the way. I also heard that they look at applications when they come in, so thought it might help.

Does your application checklist show that you accepted? I accepted immediately but it isn't showing on my checklist...
