Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

Hello All!

Just an FYI, the Application deadline has been extended to February 10, 2014 on a space available basis. Not sure what that means since acceptances have not been granted as yet. Just sharing!

Dear Brooklyn2012,

Thank you for such a thorough post as I have been looking for that exact info for quite a while. THANK YOU! In terms of textbooks, would you be able to let us know what books were required especially for the summer session? Also, where did you purchase your books? Did you purchase older editions? If so, were they just fine? Any good tips?! Thanks in advance! :)

My application has finally been sent to the committee after 2 months of waiting! Hopefully this means they are really getting going with the process and we will all receive our decisions soon!

My application status changed to faculty review completed, but nothing about the results of this review lol. Hopefully this means Downstate will start sending out decision letters soon.

I only got an email when I asked about my application and they responded with it was sent to the committee. Thanks a good luck to everyone

The students in the previous class set up a book buying exchange for us new students. I plan on doing the same thing for the class that will start in June. So if you get accepted, do not buy new books. We will sell you perfectly good used ones much cheaper. Older editions are fine for all classes. Many professors test from their power points, although I always review the books.

The Downstate bookstore prints a book list for each semester. The summer book list has not been posted yet. Just check the website in April or May to review it.

You said you took Clep for some of the prerequisites and they accepted that? Please let me know since they are telling me I need another Sociology Class, even though I have gazillion courses that can relate to that.

my application has changed to "faculty application review completed" and i am prayinggggg that that means that they want me! fyi, i check both my application and checklist every day to monitor any changes - they haven't notified me of anything.
