SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

I took patthophysiology in a CUNY and I am not a nursing student. You just have to go in into the nursing dept and request for permission. It will save you a lot of money that way.

Hey did you take this pathophysiology course in a CUNY community college?

As for me I submitted the app closer to the deadline so my status still says screening in process. wishing everyone good luck. The wait is definitely killing all of us.

I'm curious, has anyone checked out the Downstate absn Facebook page run by students and kept in touch with a student in the program? Earlier December I contacted someone to ask about deadlines and was told she submitted her app on the last day and still got in. Most likely she had really good stats but, last years app was due November 15th, so that's plenty of time for app reviews. Since the deadline was extended this year, perhaps admissions is even more swamped than last year

Yup.. i took it in KBCC.. really easy class... I suggest take it in a short semester. :-) although, I heard it is harder in other colleges...

Ah, finally I have been "sent to the committee". I was starting to think it was never going to move!

@njeri68 when did you find out that you needed to take a sociology course? I think I might have this issue as well.

if you need sociology credits take the CLEP exam.. It's only abt $100 to schedule.. I forgot the exact price... rather than spending a whole semester for it... You literally just have to review for a week or two and pass it with a 50....

FutureRN2k. Mine still says screening in process as well. I got an email about two weeks ago saying it was sent to the committee but my application status has not changed.

@cf415 It actually is not sociology that is an issue. It is my chemistry, which I took in another undergraduate nursing program. I don't see why they wouldn't take it. I emailed them and they said it is up to the discretion of the committee to decide if they will accept it. I hope it isn't a problem and if it is, that they tell me with enough time to take it somewhere else.

I believe they just use the email you used on your application. Have you checked your spam folder?

I have no idea! Hopefully they will just accept it and I won't need one. I have facultyscreener7 now. I don't see it being a problem but if it is there are some spring classes I can take that start in march.
