SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

I'm very nervous as well. At this point I feel like it may be bad news. They got their acceptance emails last wednesday, so I was hopeful until now.

I'm curious as to how wait listing works. So if we are wait listed when a spot becomes open we will be able to get that spot? Is the wait list only effective for 2014, meaning if we are in the wait list will we be considered for the 2015 program?

According to posts in previous years they have called people from the wait list as late as the day before the program starts. I believe that people who were wait listed and accepted the following year, had reapplied.

I'm still waiting for my acceptance package to come in the mail. They said it would arrive no later than Monday the 3rd, so I'm giving them a couple more days before I call. In the acceptance e-mail they said that they need to hear whether I accepted or not within two weeks, so I made sure that I at least told them via e-mail that I definitely accept!

I haven't received the package either. Thinking maybe they will send out another round of acceptance emails this week and then send out all the packages together?

Ohhhh. my bad - I think that the person who e-mailed me meant to say that the package would go out no later than the 3rd, not arrive no later than the 3rd. I realized that he probably didn't go through the trouble of figuring out how many days it would take for the acceptance package to reach my apartment building from Downstate lol

Hello all,

I found out last week that I also got in! So excited. I think I am going to email them tomorrow to accept. I was going back and forth on my decision because I was also accepted into the accelerated program at the University of Miami. I am definitely going to join the FB group Lauren, thanks! Looking forward to meeting pmercado, Draf77 and any others on this thread that are going to SUNY Downstate. I think it might be good to try and speak with some students that are currently in the program, if we can. Congrats to all and best of luck to those awaiting a decision!

I am a current student and am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Some of us will be at your orientation on Monday, June 2 to meet you and answer questions and sell you our books.

Thanks Brooklyn2012 for any input! I'm very curious to know what the class/clinical schedule looks like over the first summer, fall and spring. ie hours, days and any weekend clinicals? I'm assuming mostly 9-6pm everyday? TYIA

Hey Brooklyn2012. I didn't see this on the website, but i heard in passing that the program makes u take a&p over again

with cadavers. Is there any truth to that? Just curious. Pmercado already asked what my main question was :)
