SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

Published

Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

Looking forward to the conversation :)

Lauren

@Khasmom it is 15 months (June 2014-Aug 2015), but the academic calendar published didn't include 2015 summer because it is technically part of the 2015-2016 academic year.

@pmercado, Thansk! That ocurred to me after I posted my question. I guess all thsi excitement is getting me to jump the gun. :) Looking forward to meeting you at orientation! And everyone else on this thread that will be there.

To everyone who received an acceptance, did you all find out on the same day last week? And if you found out this week, did you find out today? I'm curious if acceptance emails went out out all at once each round. I know it sounds like splitting hairs, but I just wanted to know before I really give up hope.

@lizzielovejoy I found out last Wednesday, Feb 26th.

I found out last Wed too. Still no acceptance package though, just checked the mail.

Ditto as Khasmom and Draf77. I can never forget it - I literally came out of the NLN exam for entrance to the Hunter nursing program, I turn on my phone and got the email! Oh well, I guess I didn't have to worry about my NLN scores after all. :)

Haha i was gonna take that exam but i didnt take the required genetics course

Hello all,

I have a few answers to your questions.

You will not be taking A&P again.

I will give you an overview of the the first summer schedule we had. Yours might be different

Session A (6 weeks) 3 courses

1. Nursing Promotion Mon 9-3 Tue 9-2

3. Health Assessment (in 2 groups, 9-7 Wed. or Thurs)

4. Patho- Friday 9-5:30

Session B 4 courses and OB clinical

1. Mon-Teaching and Leaning 9-5

2. Tue-OB didactic 9-5

3. Wed-Nursing Leadership (not correct title, can't remember it) 9-4

4. OB Clinical (at 6 diff hosps. in groups of 10)

5. Pharm 9-5

The summer is very tough (21 credits in 12 weeks)...if you can transfer in either patho or pharm, that would make it much easier!

The schedule gets much easier in the Fall and for the rest of the program.

Please post any other questions.

Hey Folks who are waiting for their acceptance package:

After some investigating with UPS and chatting with someone from admissions, I found that all of the acceptance packages were returned to Downstate due to labeling errors (transfer paper didn't transfer the info to the envelopes clearly)! They were either sent out again yesterday or will be sent out today.

@brooklyn2012 Thanks so much! Soooo, my package came today! I'm still at work so I havent seen whats in it yet.
