SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

Published

Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

Looking forward to the conversation :)

Lauren

@Jazzynay I submitted mine 3 days before the deadline.

@Nursing87: are you still in screener status? or has your review been completed?

@LaurenBear, Draf77, pmercado: Congratulations!!! If you don't mind, is it possible to share your grades (cum gpa, science gpa, pre-req gpa, TEAS) and whether you had gotten approvals for certain class (e.g. substitutions with previously taken courses for the requirements)?

i submitted my application in November

Congratulations Lauren bear. If you don't mind me asking what was your gpa and test scores?

Congratulations Lauren, and all others who got an acceptance!

I submitted mine 9/18, but still no acceptance. Just wishful thinking right now cause my academic rankings and scores aren't that impressive. But hearing nothing makes me hopeful; hopefully, it would be something good when I do hear something. :-)

To all that receive an acceptance, would you mind sharing academic rankings: science GPA, CGPA, teas score, experience/volunteer activities, etc? Thank you! Congrats again!

ok folks, here are my stats:

CGPA from around 5 schools is around 3.6

prereq GPA: 3.8

science GPA: 3.67

TEAS: reading 93/math 90, total score 84.7 (for the test i took in october: nat'l 95%ile, program 99%ile)

As far as experience, I've been volunteering at a hospital for about a year and have a lot of sex ed experience. I've been a volunteer at various orgs for a long time though, so I'm not sure if that played a role.

Has anyone's status on their application changed from facultyscreener to review complete? I am hoping since a second round of acceptances goes out next week (hopefully not the last round) that my status will change to review completed before then.

Lauren, My stats are very similar to yours, a bit higher but my TEAS math score is not as high (my overall TEAS Score was 88% but I do not think they even look at that) I am hoping since mine are similar to yours that I may have a chance. I have no volunteer experience but have nursing experience. I really would like to be accepted but I am losing hope. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for being so honest! Fabulous grades! I'm feeling pretty good about my chances, but still nervous as hell!! I really hope we end up being classmates!

Were you working in a similar field before this or did you come from something totally different? I'm amazed with how eclectic the applicant pool is! It's wonderful to know that many other people are making a fresh start.

For those asking,

Cum GPA 3.81. My degree is in Chemistry, i think taking all those extra science classes helped with the application.

Prereq GPA: 3.8 science:3.7 (taking A&P 2 now)

Teas: ENg: 98 and Math: 97 Total score 90 (did pretty bad in grammar)

99th percentile

my experience is working/volunteering in an adult day clinic for over a year. When they asked me to put the # of hours, i honestly

just put a guesstimate. Most of my volunteering comes from teaching. Im a certified nys chemistry teacher (not employed there atm due to class) . I would tutor and help with after school programs while in college. Hope that helps!

No wonder you guys got in. Your grades are outstanding! If I were you I wouldn't have been worried at all.

Is there anyone here that went to Brooklyn college?

i went to Brooklyn College. Graduated last year, taking my final 2 prereqs now.
