I was recently a accepted into the accelerated program that starts in june of 2015. I am very excited and can't wait to begin my journey.
I was hoping that a current/recent grad could post an example of what your schedule looked
like in the beginning few semesters. I've got a 2.5 year old and need to get a head start in figuring out daycare! Any tips for that would be helpful too!

I would like to know as well. I am not applying yet (may not apply until later this year for 2016 or next year for 2017) but I have 3 kids so I need to know. My kids will be about 12 or 13, 7 or 8, and 6 or 7 if I were to get in and depending on when I apply.

Hey sohokat,
I see that you were accepted to SUNY Downstate, and have been a student there for a few months. Previous posts from 5 years ago talked about how disorganized the school was, and how terrible the professors were. Did you experience the same troubles? How have you felt in school? Would you recommend this school to others? Previously, the posts said the only positive thing about this school was the price. I'm hoping this may have changed, and would love your opinion.
Thanks!!
Hi nrhp,
See this post for one of my classmate's (p. 11) and my thoughts about the program: https://allnurses.com/online-nursing-schools/suny-downstate-accelerated-929795-page12.html
To sum up my feelings: no, nothing has changed. Be prepared to self-teach EVERYTHING and be completely overwhelmed the whole time. However, we have gotten a new professor this Fall who is very on top of teaching and is wonderful and honestly cares about all of us succeeding. She has been a breath of fresh air, and it gives me hope that Downstate will keep hiring more new professors.
Through all of this though, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Just keep a good humor about everything, and let the small (and big!) stuff roll off your back. Be proactive about your education and you'll be fine. You will have wonderful classmates to help keep your spirits up.
I have friends who have attended NYC and LIU's accelerated programs. They have had similar experiences and in addition are 80K in debt. I think it's the nature of ABSN programs. I really think they should be illegal .
