Hey! Has anyone applied for the 2nd degree program at SUNY Brockport for the May, 2020 start? I haven’t seen a form yet for this upcoming cohort.
I just received an email today stating that I have been accepted. I had to pinch myself! The director had told me we wouldn’t hear back until the beginning of January, so this was pretty shocking. Did anyone else hear back?

@aconnollyrn I submitted my deposit a week ago! Super excited. Curious what the next steps will be. I am finishing my chemistry and sociology prereq’s at the moment but also listening to some nursing podcasts to become familiar with terminology and common health issues.
I submitted my deposit as well. I can't wait to get our schedules so I can start planning! I am done with prereqs so I am just kind of eagerly waiting it out until the program starts. What podcasts are you listening to? I'm not familiar with any.

Thank you... strange... I was accepted into the college but no next steps on how to apply further for the program.

Did you apply for the program already? I know when I applied I had to apply for acceptance into the school again and for the program. The application for the program is posted on the nursing website. I know that it’s only open from October to I believe the beginning of December and then it gets taken down until it’s October again. For me the only reason that I knew I was accepted into the school and program was from the email she sent out. I had just received my acceptance letter for the program yesterday ( way after the December 6th deadline). Apparently there was an address issue. Luckily for me per her email I knew about the deposit deadline in which I paid on time. But per your question you apply for the actual program directly on the second degree nursing program main page. They have it posted for you to apply but as I mentioned it’s typically only open from October- December.
@aconnollyrn hey, sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve looked at this thread! My two favorites have been Straight A Nursing and Nursing Uncensored on Spotify. They’re nice to listen to at the gym or driving!
I just received the email about orientation being moved to April 4th, instead of April 11th. Just curious if y’all have received any other news or information regarding tuition, credits per semester, and tentative schedule?
Excited to meet you all at orientation, and hope everyone is enjoying their last few months of freedom before we buckle down!
I checked SUNY Brockport's academic calendar on their website to get an idea of when we will have time off! Granted the ABSN program might follow some special schedule, but I figured this will closely mirror it ?
Out of curiosity is anyone here going to be also working full time while doing this program. I’m trying to figure out how exactly to make this work. I barley made it out alive taking two classes (A&P2 and Micro) and passing. I know it’s possible I’ve been reading “success” stories but just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me?

Thanks for the podcast recommendations! I haven't received any other news but I've been doing a little research of my own. I followed this list https://www.brockport.edu/academics/catalogs/2019/programs/nursing-second_degree.html of the required courses and I found that for the most part, I believe (hopefully) it is in order of what we will be taking per semester throughout the program. And if you search for these classes in the current Brockport schedule for spring 2020, you can get an idea of what the class times will be. I received my award letter for 2020-2021 so I was able to get an idea for tuition cost from that, but not so much nursing related expenses, like uniform, stethoscope, etc.

I am planning to work but only like 10 hours/week. I honestly do not know how you would make it work either, the Director of the program told me herself that we cannot work more than 20 hours, but obviously you do what you have to do. It is likely possible (although painful) to work full time during nursing school, but to work full-time during an accelerated program, I'm just not sure. I hope you figure it out! Good luck!
