Good morning!
Joe, that's a lot of beans!
I'm crazy about ramen and Asian noodles in general. There actually is a ramen restaurant very close to where I live that I've never been too. But there have been several restaurants that serve it. I remember during a layover in the airport in Tokyo having the best ramen ever. The kind that comes in packages while good are very unhealthy, full of fat, refined carbs and sodium and should be avoided. But they are good, as is a lot of unhealthy food. LOL. Genuine restaurant made ramen in the traditional Japanese way is sooooo good.
I did get together with best friend and we went to the beach. It was a nice sunset and we sat until 9:30 pm. The weather was perfect, lower temps and lower humidity. Meaning "86 feels like 86" instead of "92 feels like 106". It being a nice evening and it being Saturday, there was a large amount of people spread out.
I hope the dogs for J22 and Stars are here and settled in and not traumatized and causing issues.
Nothing much on the agenda for me today. Need to mow the grass and go to the grocery store and the gym. I have linens in the wash. So exciting.
That is a lot of beans! I'm sure they were grateful for your work!
I don't think I've ever had ramen, other than that packaged stuff. And every time I'm tempted to get some, dh is with me and he's afraid it will be too spicy.
The dogs arrived yesterday, and they are settling in. The little one, Jozie, is quite nervous, but she's taken a few naps on dh's lap. We were dismayed to realize neither dog is house-trained. It doesn't help that it's been rainy. So I've been cleaning up messes and the bedrooms, which are carpeted, are off limits. We took them to the feed store this morning, to get a small harness for Jozie, some treats and pet stain cleaner.
They're cuties! They'll get the hang of house training soon.
I hope Stars got her dog and all is well.
I was disappointed that there wasn't much to be had in terms of baked goods at the bazaar. I made an apple cake to take to the book club. It was hot (94 feels 101) on that first day of fall. No storms though I think they were east of us. I could see lightning in the east on my way home and in the early afternoon Twin A took a cool photo of a storm cell.
Joe, please let us know what you think of Demon Copperhead. I enjoyed her book The Poisonwood Bible. I think I might have read another as well. I wasn't crazy about the book we read this month but most of the others loved it.
Hubs went to the lake yesterday and checked on the boat. He had planned to sail but it was quite windy and he decided he didn't want to work that hard and then be feeling worn out but still have to take care of his mom.
I'll see if I can find Twin A's photo.
I'm here, and Momo is curled up in her little fuzzy bed right beside my right hip. I wrote a long email to my sibs, about the dog, and I THOUGHT I'd sent a post here, too, but I don't guess I didn't 'cause I couldn't find it!
Okay, then. DOG REPORT:
She is mellow like you wouldn't believe. (I guess some of that is her age- 7 yrs ) and she is sweet and well-mannered. Because she spent her early years at an animal hoarder's abode and wasn't loved on much at all, she is hand-hungry; loves her chest and shoulders scratched, to the point where she is practically hypnotized! She loves to soak in to a good snuggle, and last night, the first night we slept together ?? I didn't have to worry when turning over, she was quite accommodating and would reposition herself with no fuss. She loves to be under the covers. She did pee once on the (carpeted) stairs, and today I was folding dried clothes when I saw her circle around and squat ON THE SOFA cushion. I held out a pant leg of my clean bluejeans, right under her butt, and she did her business then and there. Then I flicked the poop out into the yard and tossed my jeans right back into the washing machine. Quick thinking saved the sofa cushion! Otherwise she pees on one of the two 36x36" underpads I have spread out, one each in the den and up here in my room. She just pees a neat little circle. I asked a pharmacist today for a syringe so I could get her to drink more, because when I put the water dish in front of her, she backs away from it. I don't want her getting dehydrated!
She has had her shots and flea tx; they forgot to give me the vet's paperwork to confirm what's been done, but will send it via mail. The girls who brought her up here did take a picture of us sitting on the sofa, and I hope to get them to get a few photos developed to send to me so I can mail them out to my sibs, and dianah, who said she can post the picture for me so y'all can see her (and me) here.
I have a lot more to tell youse, but I am exhausted. Hubby was smashed tonight and I had to help him up out of his recliner; it has a low seat. I have him scoot to the edge of the seat, then have him grab the newel post with his right hand, while I put my left elbow under his left armpit and have him rock and count to three, so we are both moving at the same time. It is less difficult that way but I told him I can NOT do that much longer because my knee, elbow and shoulder feel it. I said it was also probably because he took his Xanax about a half hour before we came upstairs, that he was having to struggle to stand. He said he hadn't taken one, but I distinctly remember him taking the pill and swallowing it. I wish he would wait to take it until after he comes upstairs, because I also had to grip him by the back belt-line of his pants to help him stay steady as he was laboring up the stairs. I'm going to have to put HIM in a 'home'. He does nothing but nip those little (50 cc) vodka bottles and nap a lot. And he still has to call me to help him get the darn nasal canula put on correctly. Last night he actually woke me up 3 times to come help him put it back on after he got up to go to the bathroom. And to help make sure his feet are covered by the sheet, of all things! This is ridiculous.
Momo is not interested in the least about going out to walk on the leash, and doesn't dash at the door when it is opened. I take her out (harness and leash on, naturally) and put her on the grass and she sits down and looks up at me, She would not eat anything at all until this afternoon; I had gone out to get some chicken because Jody said that's what she liked the best, and I was feeling desperate for her to eat. I think it was her nerves from being toted in the car for how-ever-many hours and being turned over to a new person in a new home. I would've called the vet tomorrow if she hadn't eaten anything. By the time I got back, she had eaten all of the small-dog food on her plate, except for the little diced carrots!
All I can manage to tell you now. More fun info tomorrow---
j22, those dogs do certainly look cute, and yes, tmb--they do look like SNORTERS! ? ?
Got to take my meds and unwind...........
Ado~ What a gorgeous cloud! The photographer caught it at just exactly the right moment. There were 4 or 5 'pictures' I could make in my mind of what that giant shape could be, say, maybe an ocean-liner, or a giant pillow with a built-in flashlight, or some odd, enlarged view in an advertisement for bar soap. Who knows! But it was an evocative photo, and a good one.
Ado, that's a great pic!
Stars, so happy to hear Momo (I had to add that to my spellcheck because it kept changing to "mom" LOL). is safe and sound. I would say it's nerves that stopped her from eating. Plus it might not be her regular food. So I wouldn't worry unless the fast is a couple of days. Her natural thirst should make her drink once she knows where her bowl is and she relaxes. She might not drink a lot to you because she's so small but not drinking at all would be nerve wracking. Also be careful about overfeeding because her requirements aren't much. My ex would overfeed my small dogs and felt like I was starving them because they ate only 1/4 cup of dry twice a day. Anyway congrats! Looking forward to the pictures!

Tweety I don't think I've ever had ramen
Stars hope the dog arrived as expected yesterday
NJ22 glad the ankle is better
Dianah the new book is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
Didn't see many birds yesterday. Supposedly there is a fall migration that temporarily increases the number of birds. But in this area it seems the numbers are at the highest in Spring and steadily decrease throughout the year
Afterwards made a quick stop for some Oktoberfest beer, which I found out I like as a result of the Milwaukee trip
Then went to the food depository with the gay group. Several other groups were there too, we were taking 50lb bags of pinto beans and dividing them into 3lb bags. Ended up going through more than 3 tons of beans in about 2 hours or so
Rest of the day was pretty quiet, watched Svengoolie, was kinda so so
Today church is back to 10am, so I'll head out early to do some grocery shopping then go to church. Will do the cooking when I get home. Will be trying out another gay group tonight, they're meeting at a restaurant in the city, bit of a drive but I'll see how it goes
Weather here pretty much the same as yesterday, in the mid 70s
