Good morning!
Joe, sorry J isn't feeling good, but sounds like you have a nice day planned.
Julie, that is quite early to wake up but sounds nice.
Stars, sorry the days are so dull, but remember when things weren't so dull with Nannie acting up, so enjoy it while it lasts. ?
Ado, sounds like it's challenging living with MIL.
J22, hope your PT is okay. Glad you were able to enjoy a run.
I didn't hear my dad cuss much as a kid or even now, but my mother would cuss, mostly when she was short-tempered with us kids. Hearing her "use the Lord's name in vain" really was confusing. My younger sister one time said g-dammit like it was an everyday word. I remember mom saying "what did you say??" and she repeated it, but she didn't get mad, even snickered, because she knew she was mimicking her, and just said that it was a grown up word. I don't remember her cussing much after that.
Insomnia real bad last night. Was going to meet best friend but it's a bit chilly outside and I want to go back to bed. Hope to get to the gym and do some chores around the house. Yesterday was a lazy day.
Have a great day.
Good morning all!
Temps here will be around 77, rather than the 98 of yesterday and a few days ago. Just a taste of Summer... We decided to go to RenFaire next weekend, give them a chance to get settled in. Apparently there is a burrowing owl's nest near the parking lot, and RenFaire staff have requested everyone be parked by 0900, to give the owls some quiet time. As dh feeds the cats every morning (it takes about an hour), he prefers to go on outings after they are fed. But I think we can swing it, to get there by 9.
Not much planned for today.
Have a good day!
Happy Sunday! Pretty uneventful day so far. I slept in until 0430 today. Yeah.. a whole half hour extra! No magical deer or birds this morning. I'm excited to be going home tonight. I miss the cat.
Avoiding the realtor. I am having second thoughts about it. Will call her in the morning.
A good friend called yesterday to tell me that she'd been let go after 16 years as housekeeping supervisor. She was less than a year away from retirement. I feel so bad for her. Meeting her for lunch on Tuesday. Hopefully I can help her feel better even if only for a little while.
Hope you are all doing well and having a beautiful day.
Joe, I'm sorry the J is feeling poorly. Hopefully, it passes quickly. I think many of us are having to adjust to contracting colds and other viruses. My hayfever is trying to sideline me, but claritin and steroid nasal spray are keeping it at bay. Youngest ds is suffering though. I have him doubling up on claritin, and got him some nose spray and antihistamine eye drops.
Dianah, I hope the weather cooperates for the RennFaire. I can't imagine wearing long clothes in 90 degree heat.
Julie, that is just sad about your housekeeper friend. I hope she can just retire. You are a good friend to help her to grieve this loss. Real estate agents are soooo aggressive around here. There is a shortage of housing and I get solicitations weekly to sell our house.
Tweety, I can sympathize about wanting to crawl back into bed. I was up every hour from 1 until 6, just couldn't get comfortable.
We just got back from some plant shopping. I picked up a few plants to stick in pots later when its warmer, and a couple of succulents for inside. Like everything else, the prices have really jumped.
My annoying dog is pestering me for a walk, so out we'll go, and then maybe a nap. dh said he was leaving to go find some shoes, but is asleep in front of the TV. I know if I lay down before he leaves, he will start talking at me, so I will wait til he's gone.
Sunny today, not a cloud in the Carolina Blue skies. Breeze is a little chilly, but not too bad.
Have the Braves afternoon game on and Nannie has her eyes glued to the TV. Third inning about to end; disgustingly enough Cincinnati is ahead by 5-0. Still, even with a poor score, she is enthralled by the TV's picture: "So clear, such bright colors; I LOVE watching this TV!" Yep, it's an HD TV so if the picture isn't good, you can bet it's an OLD show or movie.
Think I'll make myself a cup of coffee and go outside for a bit, to sit in the sun. Not into tanning, just like feeling warm. Maybe absorb a little Vit D.
Slept like a log last night after I turned out the light at 2:30 AM. Got up at 10 AM, and brought Nannie her breakfast, then took MY meds and went back to bed and slept until 12:45 PM! Living the life of a sloth, I guess. Not complaining, because I really enjoy staying up late reading, but I'd like not to sleep away the entire morning. It might be a habit that is hard to break, but I do plan on TRYING to .... but I won't let ya know, until I have already succeeded. That's because every time I say here that I am going to do something, I don't. Can't jinx myself!
Uh, they are selling a $151 "Championship Burger" at Truist Park. The burger has a lobster tail and a fried egg on it, among other things...welp, it's gotta be pricey because of the 'lobstah', but I do think $151 is ridiculous! However, there ARE folks buying it! What's that saying?.... "there's a fool born every minute." Yeh, a fool with $$$ burning a hole in his pocket!
dianah, so....why does it take an hour to feed the cats? Is it because of the # of cats, or are you feeding them one of them-there "Championship Burgers" a bite at a time? (yuh, I'm sure.)
I don't recall my dad cursing, and my mom was mostly 'creative' with hers: "shhhhh-sugar", "rats, cats, hags and bags!", "dammit", and "Damn-nation and Faust!"
Tweety, yeah, I am aware that the dull days are preferable to Nannie's previously frequent craziness. But, sometimes I feel like a ping-pong ball being tossed on the ocean waves...no anchor. I need to have some kind of something to do besides the domestic stuff: laundry, trash emptying, and other house-wife-ish pastimes, like grocery shopping. Have to give this some thought. I know things I can do, it's just choosing which something and getting started.
Joe, Ya don't have to take a walk to see birds here...we've got a BUNCH of different kinds to be seen while sitting inside looking outside. Open yard, bordered by hedges and the woods, so lots of varied bird-preferred environments. I did, however see what I thought at first was a knot of a branch on the ground. On closer inspection I found it to be a dead mouse...it had a small hole in it's left hip, but no other signs of cause of death. I picked it up by its tail and flung it into the woods. (If I was REALLY Southern, I'd have said I "flang it" into the woods.)
Julie, That's a bummer about your housekeeping friend who was let go less than a year before retirement. I bet it was a business, ie 'financial' decision, cutting out her income and benefits. These days, seniority means nothing ... except you are apt to be 'let go' so the business can hire some newbie at a lesser cost to them. BAH!
Oh dearie me, it is once again time to decide about supper. I tell hubby to tell me where he's going to go, and then I can decide what I want him to order. He won't just pick someplace, and even when he says a restaurant, Nannie doesn't know what she wants. Generally she copycats my order. Oh, the ONUS of being the one to do the choosing! And then when I DO decide, hubby says, "Or I can go to______or to_________." Honestly, I don't care! Go get something!
Maybe with the game ending soon, Nannie will end up going to bed early-ish tonight. Let us pray. She gets her PM meds just before she eats supper, because if she gets them later, she stays up later .... because, you can tell: she just enjoys the 'buzz' from her meds too much to go to sleep. But by 8:30 PM she is peering at the TV with little eyes squinched into slits. That's when hubby starts getting on her about going to bed: "you can barely keep your eyes open!" She might try to wait, but has to give it up eventually.
Supper is going to arrive shortly; the ballgame just ended (we lost 6-3). And so the evening begins....
I can't get Braves games on my unfancy TV channels. Golf was on - BORING!
The 'lobster' burger sounds good to me. I'm debating WHEN to use up somemore pantry can soups. Like for a big potato/corn/bacon chowder. I've got the soups & other stuff. Grocery Home Delivery mixed up orders and I got some $25 stuff to use. Then I dropped a container of little grape tomatoes - must've been a million tomatoes rolling around on the floor to pick up.
Have phlebotomy resched for tomorrow. THEY cancelled Friday - I think lack of staff for home visits.
WARNING! If you are eating or drinking right now, swallow before you continue reading this:
America's Funniest Videos just started, and as they announce "Roberto Alphonso", and he began walking down the stairs to the spot where he was to stop, and talk... and Nannie said, "Look at that! Look at the front of his pants while he walks downstairs. His 'package' is so big, the bottom of his jacket isn't big enough to cover it."

??blew. my. mind.

We have seven cats. First, dh empties all water dishes and thoroughly cleans them, and refills them with fresh water. Then he adds water to a small can of cat food , to make a "gravy". Then he meticulously spoons it, equally, into the seven bowls (which have been nicely cleaned before). He then separates the cats into separate eating areas (one "family" of cats in one room (door closed), outliers (non-family cats) in designated areas. Then he leaves them for 15 min or so, then checks to see who is eating, and who isn't, and redistributes food as he deems fit. Then leaves them again, and after about 20 more minutes, when they have revealed who will eat and who is on hunger strike for whatever reason, he gathers the bowls, combines the leftovers, and offers them to whoever will eat them. Anything after that, he tosses. I try to impress on him that he is not responsible for their eating -- if they are hungry, they will eat; if not, they won't, and don't fret about it! But he feels responsible for whether they eat or not, so he hovers and monitors who is eating and who isn't. So, yeah, that takes about an hour. I stay out of his way. ?
Y'all crack me up.
Musical performance went well. We made some mistakes but nothing drastic and it was fun (for me, anyway).
I bought groceries and cooked meals but that's about it until going out to feed baby squirrels. I had only 3 to feed so folded some laundry there and did dishes there. They have 2 baby armadillos. Growing up in Oklahoma I was familiar with armadillos lying dead on the road but had never seen a live one until I was an adult and we were in Florida.
So possums, being marsupials, do not suckle. They actually swallow a nipple inside the mother's pouch and are fed in more of a drip-feed manner. That is why the babies who can't eat on their own yet are fed using feeding tubes. They would aspirate if nipple fed.
Dory the dog has not had another bad day/night since last weekend.

Tweety giving report to someone like that would annoy me too
Julie glad today is going better
Stars I've been having a similar Spring, overcast and cool
Ado maybe a change of scenery would help her
NJ22 that's good that it's someone you're familiar with
Was fairly cold yesterday morning but I went out bird watching anyway. Saw only a few birds but did see a brown creeper, which I haven't seen before
Later I baked some coffeecake, went to lunch with dad, cleaned a bit. I did watch Svengoolie, The Wolf Man wasn't bad although it wasn't as good as some of his other movies
J is still feeling poorly, he tested negative for Covid but still has some symptoms. Probably the same upper respiratory illness a friend of his has, who he apparently caught it from. So we won't get together today
Will be helping the bell choir today so I'll be going to church a bit early. Before then I'll do the laundry and some cooking. Afterwards I'll do some more baking, was planning to leave that for next weekend but things will be so busy with Easter. Might try and ride my bike if it's not too windy
Going to get up to 60s today though might be very windy this afternoon
