Summer 3 Mayo clinic nurse externship 2017

Hey guys! I know that we're still a few months from the application opening, but I'm so excited I can't wait!

I'd love to hear from any of the previous years' externs and anyone planning on applying this summer.

Specializes in Dermatology.

Got a denial letter right away because they said I am applying a year early since I won't be graduating with my BSN until May 2019, so they said the Summer 2018 would be my time to apply. :nurse: I guess I have another year to perfect my essay lol. Good luck to everyone!

Hey guys!

I'd love to get to know you all better as we wait. I have heard from past externs that this is an amazing opportunity to meet and make lifelong friends, so why not start now?

my name is Allison, I'm a junior in my nursing program here in Oklahoma. My hobbies include rock climbing and watching tella novellas which I can justify because I'm trying to learn Spanish. I have an insatiable passion for critical care and prehospital medicine and I want to be a flight nurse!

I'm a junior in a nursing program in Illinois. I enjoy being involved with a ton of organizations on campus. I'm really interested in the NICU/pediatric critical care, but that could always change :)

My new hobby is checking my email constantly to see if Mayo has emailed us ;) I'm not sure I'm a very competitive candidate for this externship- But I am applying to a couple back-up externships that are probably more realistic for me. :nurse:

I feel like every single applicant feels like they aren't competitive enough but someone has to get in!

True! It does seem super hard for everyone. But im in my last year in Arizona. Lots of PCT experience in high critical care areas and would love to continue with that.

Hey everyone! I applied for the Summer III externship as well so I figured I'd jump on this thread so I don't have to stress alone..

Can't wait to hear something soon!! I'm hoping for the best, but I'm still super nervous :unsure:

I also feel like I am not competitive enough but I am super exicted about the thought. I am not sure there are as many people on this form that said they applied this year!

Normally they have around 900 people apply I believe!

My application says "Application in Review" does anyone else have anything different?

Mine has says the same thing. It has said that since I submitted my application!
