Hi everyone,
How many of you have applied for the 2013 Accelerated BSN/MSN program at JHU SON? I applied early decision and completed my phone interview on the 26th. They said they will start making decisions calls around the December 15th which is a Saturday so I'm sure we won't hear anything until the 17th or later.
Is anyone else as anxious as I am to hear back from them? I even made a vision board on my fridge that reads: I WILL GET ACCEPTED INTO THE JOHNS HOPKINS BSN/MSN PROGRAM STARTING SUMMER 2013. Positive thoughts work, right?
FYI: I also applied to Columbia, Ohio State, and UCLA.
Has anyone thought about applying to the HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship program? Or possibly know anyone that has? I am considering applying to it, but I really don’t know if I want to go through what seems like a very intensive application process if I am not even sure I want to commit to two years of service. The main reason to not committing would be going back to school for an MSN/MPH before that time frame was over. Cnp2012, is anyone in your cohort part of this program?
I think there is one person in my cohort who has a HRSA. You are correct in that it is a very intense application process....I would definitely think it over because once you commit to those two years there isn't much wiggle room and he ran into the same problem with wanting to continue on. I can talk to him once we all get back from spring break and get the scoop.
Has anyone been awarded a merit scholarship? And does anyone know if it is possible to get the merit scholarship as well as the Fuld scholarship?
Theoretically it could happen but it is extremely rare......there is one person I can think of in all 3 cohorts currently at the school that is in this situation. Never say never though, stranger things have happened :)
Hi mcav, did you end up hearing anything on Friday? It seems like a lot of people have been notified already. I hope the reason we haven't heard back is because midwifery is joint with Shenandoah, thus taking a longer time to process. I'm probably going to call in on Monday to check.
Hey Kdiem, have you heard anything yet? I am still waiting...but not expecting too much at this point.
Hey Lattae! I received the same email about accepted student's day. I called in... and apparently they had the wrong phone number on file and was suppose to call me yesterday about my acceptance. I would definitely call in and confirm your application status!
For any midwifery lurkers, they are still making decisions on a rolling basis. I am a fall entry student!

Got it. I didn't receive acceptance to my MSN specialty due to not having enough experience (I was sort of confused about that because I have a lot of experience in peds, but oh well) and they said my grades were high enough to get in, so they saw no problem with me easily matriculating into the MSN program in the future as long as my grades continued to follow that pattern in the BSN. I am sure the same goes for most of the other people who received acceptance to the program. I would call or email someone tomorrow and ask what they think! It's not going to be "direct entry", but I think chances are very high of receiving admission into an MSN program in the future, after receiving your BSN.
